CBRL reported a decent Q1.
Comps were positive but only because of strong pricing; traffic and the retail stores were weak.
Margin growth continued but at nearly 21 times this year's earnings, the stock is way too expensive.
Cracker Barrel (NASDAQ:CBRL) has long been an example for others in the restaurant sector. The company has bucked weak trends in casual dining and its retail stores have helped shoulder the burden as well. CBRL's unique model has worked extremely well over the past few years and it pays a sizable dividend to boot. After a nice Q1 report, the stock is hitting new highs again but with the valuation becoming a concern, how much further can CBRL go?

The funny thing is, the nearest Cracker Barrel to us (Dumfries, VA) is right next door to a Waffle House! I have to divide my visits between the two.
Ah! Boone's Farm and grits the breakfast of champions (Hic!)
Never ate there, but I lived there many years ago. We ate shrimp and grits at the Magnolia - my favorite.
I agree. I am travelling 10 hours up the mountains to western NC by myself in 5 days ( hubby is holding down the fort & animals) to surprise my mom for Christmas. CB is safe, welcoming, clean & has delicious comfort food. When you are a woman travelling alone this is important.
Plus I am sure I will buy some last minute treats ; )
I used to travel a lot in the south and developed an appreciation for southern food. Cracker Barrel helps provide me some of that here in the grim, frozen north. Definitely grits with breakfast. My usual dinner: catfish, pinto beans, greens, fried okra, cornbread, and sweet tea.
I also like to look at the stuff they have on the walls. The one near me has hanging from the ceiling the same stroller I used to ride around in back in the fifties. I also like the retro stuff in the stores. I hadn’t tasted a Double Cola in fifty years, but Cracker Barrel has it.
I had Old timers breakfast yesterday. Good stuff.
HA! I used to live in Woodbridge VA when I worked at the Pentagon. I slugged in.
I've been told you're supposed to use molasses
We go to Cracker Barrel for their Thanksgiving Dinner. Saves having to do the dishes! ;-)
Yeah, sorry, they do care about PC nonsense and have given in (if only to walk their caving back later) to it on several occasions. Most recently was the Duck Dynasty nonsense.

“Agree 100%. Good food, good service, reasonable prices.”
The reality you posted, often drives analysts crazy trying not to mention that reality, when trying to explain why a company is successful or not.
Notice how the analysts never mention our NFL boycott, when trying figure out what is happening to the former NFL tv viewers.
I’m always a goner if a menu has a Reuben! Doesn’t get any better sandwich wise ; )
So stick with your tasty cream of wheat straight from the box. We actually use a lot of cream of wheat, its great for paper mache.
Cracker Barrel is also anti gun.

Screw Cracker Barrel.
Wine.. works for me. But they would have to limit themselves to Boones Farm to go with the grits!
_____________
Really, they have the most divine chicken salad, but I can’t help but wish I could have a nice cabernet with it. I guess I could take it to go.
I look forward to trying it. Fire ants first entered the United States through the port of Mobile, AL from South America.
I live in Mobile so I am right in the middle of fire ant country.
Love, love, love WH!!!! I always get the hash browns that way, ask for extra crisp. We fantasize about one ole ing where we live. A girl can dream......

“Also, the company seems to not care about political correct nonsense.”
You’ve apparently already forgotten about the Duck Dynasty affair when they pulled all their products off the shelves in the stores and made a big deal about the position the patriarch took on homos.
I don’t care for Duck Dynasty but I do care about activism of a public company.
Other than that foolishness they do have decent food and offer a set down dinner for less than $10.00. That is getting harder to find.
Try making cheese grits with a spoonful of ham base and a good sprinkle of cayenne. Yummy. To die for!
