The National Weather Service is warning that the storm hitting Southern California on Sunday could be the strongest since 2010, prompting at least two cities in burn-scarred areas to issue evacuation notices in advance of heavy rain, flooding and possible mudslides.

Light rain was falling across the region Sunday morning, with more intense rain expected as the day progresses. The heaviest rain was expected Sunday afternoon and evening.

I’m in the exceptional drought area and hoping that changes by the end of the day.

You may be joking about that, but it is indeed a crime in California to collect rain water. Don’t believe me? I suggest you try doing it and let the government know it,and you’ll find yourself in jail with some pretty hefty fines to pay.

Just before the rains began he said kalifornia is in perpetual drought. Never pass up a good crisis to increase taxes and impose more restrictive regulations.

Freepers just don’t get it. If you lived in California and spent a little time listening to our great Governor Jerry Baby, you would understand that man-made excess See Oh Too in the atmosphere is the primary cause of both drought AND massive rainfall and subsequent flooding.

Plus you would learn that 97 out of every 100 scientists agree with Governor Baby.

But of course most Freepers have the brains to not live in California so they are both blessed and forgiven.

Wow.

I’m guessing the people who lived in 1862 didn’t scream “Climate Change!” “Global Warming!” “Ban all industry in the North!”

The ecofreaks would act even crazier than usual if this were to be repeated in the present day.

You hit the nail on the head.

New reservoirs and other water storage facilities should have been built many years ago in California.

But the RATS rule the roost in California, and when the environmentalist wackos say “Jump!” the RATS in Sacramento and elsewhere in the state say, “How high?” The RATS also say to the enviros, “Thank-you for those campaign contributions! Keep ‘em coming!”

And then when their policies blow up in their face, they'll blame the Republican President for their woes.

That Delta Smelt is not even indigenous to California, correct? It’s basically an invasive species.

I heard that, in the recent past, enough fresh water to supply the needs of four million California homes were flushed into the California Delta region on behalf of this non-native smelt. Ugh.

I was joking about that but in CO it is against the law to collect rain water for personal use around the house. In MD they tax you for the amount of rainfall that runs off your roof into the sewer system.

Just make sure it all goes into the Pacific(l thought it was rising?) and don’t divert a drop to watershed basins. Send all the topsoil into the ocean also, we wouldn’t want to plan ahead.

Not that much rain, The last time I saw REAL RAIN in Los Angeles was the winter of 1976-77. Water was 2 feet higher than the bridge on Foothill in Sunland, , coming out of Big Tujunga Wash, before the 210 was there. the 14 at Sand Canyon in Canyon Country was also Under Water.

(San Fernando Valley)

Gee, maybe it would have been a good idea to build some more reservoirs? I wonder how much fresh water will be lost?
