Snake left behind on flight in Alaska (The snake is okay now)

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Anna McConnaughy was flying to Alaska's largest city when the announcement came over the intercom: a passenger on a previous flight had brought a pet snake on board.

The passenger had gotten off the plane. The snake had not.

"The pilot came, and said, 'Guys, we have some loose snake on the plane, but we don't know where it is,'" McConnaughy said Tuesday.

Unlike the movie "Snakes On A Plane," this one wasn't venomous. Mostly, it was sleepy.

A little boy, one of seven passengers on the Ravn Alaska commuter flight Sunday from the Alaska village of Aniak to Anchorage, was climbing on his seat when he spotted the slumbering snake. It was lying partially covered by a duffel bag near the back of the plane.

"He said, 'Oh, Mom, look at this. What's that?'" McConnaughy said. "That's how we figured out there was a snake sleeping in the corner."

There was no panic. McConnaughy said. Mostly people wanted to see the snake.

Startled dogs yelp as loud as hurt ones... often louder- dogs are such drama queens.

Not surprised, as he was probably startled. Having personally been bitten by Eastern and California King snakes, Corn snakes, Ball Pythons, Gopher snakes, Black Racers, I can testify that my most egregious wounds came from my cats. But they are cute and cuddly, so that

Cats are getting blamed for bad PMS systems in females. I am not joking.

Something to do with that parasite.

Wow.

That’s like the worst snek photo ever taken.

Can’t see the head so my guess would be an Albino Boa, probably of the Kahl strain, based on the coloration around the head, fading into the body.

Body is not shaped like a Colubrid so any type of Rat Snake would be unlikely.

It was sleeping, which is the preferred hobby of Boas and Pythons, so that’s my guess.

It appears very healthy and well cared for.

Yeah - I guess it is a sexist remark - I’m just thinking of the two women I have in my house that would have nothing to do with it. And I would probably be real hesitant about handling it either. My one daughter would be okay with it - probably more than me!

I can only imagine some of the messes these flight attendants have to deal with! “Hey Frank - I’ll get the snake and you can clean up the mess where the kid got out of his diaper!”

The passengers would have been freaked out more, by my involuntary squeal of delight.

I was trying to figure out how one forgets and leaves their snake on a plane. Although I have left my wallet on the plane - in the magazine seat holder. TWICE!!

#23. Re your cats “they are cute and cuddly”.

That what a Ball Python says about you.

Be careful!
