You need a little reserve when you are driving on highways with speed limits of 85. Since folks used to drive 65 to 70 in a 55 zone, the same percentages are going to get you close to 100.
Now, 80 or 85 on an interstate is effortless. If you want to stay alert, cruise down a narrow two lane blacktop in west Texas were the speed limit is 75 and the road may make a 90 degree turn at a section line.

You can drive a car on track days on race tracks. You would not want to pay the price to do that for a car like a AMC Pacer.

That was a ton of money back then. I paid cash for my 86 Mustang as I was doing well selling pay telephones. Remember them?

I did not live in Colorado until 1998. I had a 1986 Porsche Turbo, but did not know of this racing group.

I remember in 1958 or so we drove by a Ford dealer who had a big sign painted on the showroom window. Brand new Ford for $1750.
We stopped and checked it out and they really did have one for that price. It was absolutely bare bones but I think they would have bought it if it only had a heater which it didn’t.

This fast car obsession must be a guy thing. Why do I need a car in America that can go faster than 100 miles an hour? There are no roads on which I can legally go over 75 MPH here in the East, as far as I know.A hundred is fast enough for most of us...We just want to get there in 3.2 seconds...

Had a 2014 C7 Corvette Z51 Stingray Coupe.
Loved the Car but at 6’3” / 240 it wasn’t as comfortable as I would have liked. Had it for a Year and sold it.
Most expensive Car I ever bought. I could never get past the fact that I bought a Car that cost twice as much as my first House. LOL
Now I’m driving a very roomy 2015 Dodge Challenger with “TRUMP 45” Vanity Plates. Haven’t been keyed yet...

Because just KNOWING my Corvette could do 185 was enough.
The ultimate Vanishing Point fantasy.

It looks like it could get a speeding ticket just parked there.

That’s how we buy our luxury cars. Buy them about a year or 1 1/2 old with low mileage. We get great deals that way. We have a Jag and a Mercedes we bought like that. Paid right at half what they were new.
