Residents told CNN affiliate WLBT that the body was found by a group of children in a wooded area. Jackson police are waiting for the coroner and medical examiner to determine whether the head and body belong to the same person.
"Due to the type of crime and the proximity of the body parts, we can assume perhaps this is the remains that were attached to the head," Jackson Police Chief Lee Vance said.
Police have not determined the motive in the case and would not say whether the killing is gang-related....
Police did not say whether the homeowners recognized the head.

Given that the source is CNN, can we be sure this actually happened and we’re talking about a human body, not a mannequin or something? I guess we’ll know if they start claiming Donald Trump or someone from his administration is the lead suspect. If I were Steve Bannon or Kellyanne Conway I’d be talking to a lawyer.

I haven’t traveled west of I55 since the very early 90’s.
Funny I can remember being with my mom on Capitol St in the early 1960’s while she shopped me and my sister would run up and down the streets and play in the back alleys. Again, never a thought from us or our mother that something sinister could happen.
My aunt used to drop me and my cousin and friends off at the colliseum for rock concerts mid 60’s before we had driver licenses and after the show we would run up the hill to the Krystal there on Capitol St. This would be after 10:30 pm. Couldn’t do that now!
I am waiting for more clues in this case. Not enough to go on.
