Beef burger, pfft! Try the cricket burger News Posted: 7:55 PM PT Last Updated: Jul 25, 2017 7:55 PM PT

The PNE's food line up is weirder and wackier than ever with options that will surely add a few pounds to the waistline. Here are seven things to try — if you're brave enough.

Cricket burger and fries

Cricket fries

If you're squeamish about eating bugs, maybe avoid this one. Eating insects is common all over the world, and the PNE has its own version with the roasted BBQ cricket burger.

"High in fiber and protein, this burger packs a gratifying and tasty crunch," says the PNE. Foodies can also try the fries topped with roasted BBQ flavoured crickets and gravy.

Crispy chicken feet

The name says it all. While a staple in many cuisines, it's the first time the PNE will have something like it.

Chili lime popcorn shrimp perogies

Chilli lime perogies

A twist on the traditional perogies which are topped with crispy panko shrimp, a sweet chili glaze and sriracha mayo and served with lime and mint cucumbers.

Double bacon mac and cheese Super Footlong Hotdog

Mac n cheese hot dog

What's a fair without a hot dog?! To celebrate Super Footlong Hotdogs 60th anniversary at the fair, try their latest gamble: bacon with homemade mac and cheese.

Cherry cola soft serve

Pretty much self-explanatory.

Rolled ice cream waffle taco

Indulge your sweet tooth with ice cream rolled with your favourite toppings and served in a waffle shaped like a taco. Because tacos are all the rage.

When I visited a Mongolian nomad family last year, they cooked a sheep head in my honor. I politely declined the eyes and brain.

I have to say, that tops the list of unusual snacks for me.

I don’t think I would ever try bugs.

There was a fad in the 50s of chocolate covered ants and french fried grasshoppers. A friend’s parents had leftovers from a party. We ate them. Not at all bad. The ants were like chocolate-covered raisins and french fried grasshoppers tasted like the French’s canned fried onions.

My son will eat anything. So for Christmas he got sour cream and chive dried crickets. He loved them. I couldn’t go there.

1. Sardines and crackers with Tabasco sauce and of course washed down with cold beer.

2. Vigorously pour Tabasco sauce in a small bag of Fritos. shake well. Nice burnin’ hot Fritos on the go is the result. I love em.

I remember my stepfather had a can of fried grasshoppers in the cupboard, back in the 60s-70s. As far as I know, that can was never opened.

I still get ragged on for missing the “Summer of Love” and all.

Well, if you had a few piasters to spare, a poor semblance was available in-country.

One thing that I really love about China is all the different flavors of potato-chips that are available.

In the USA you will this one enormous isle with maybe ten different brands of potato chips, but only two or three flavors. In China, you will have a much smaller isle, but it will be packed with about 100 different flavors by 50 different companies.

My car looked just like that - minus the kitchen

Oh, and mine was finished in gray fur.
On the outside.
Instead of paint.

It was a trendy 60s thing called Velvetex.
I hear they are poised for a comeback -
