If standard practices are applied, the three UCLA basketball players – including LiAngelo Ball – arrested Tuesday in mainland China under suspicion of shoplifting face between three and 10 years in prison if convicted, according to Chinese lawyers who briefed Yahoo Sports on the applicable laws. The sentencing guidelines could shift depending on the amount that the Chinese could prove was allegedly stolen. Authorities believe the players shoplifted from a Louis Vuitton store near the UCLA team hotel outside of Shanghai. The Bruins are in China to play Georgia Tech on Saturday in the season opener. The players were arrested Tuesday after local law enforcement came to the team hotel and questioned both UCLA and Georgia Tech players before taking the three away. ESPN first reported the arrests.

Yes, either thugs & racists or tacit supporters of same. One would have to be brain dead to sit in front of a TV and watch those freaks.

So you are saying that when a team is playing, you can filter out seeing the players you don’t want to see, and only the decent people will seem to be there for you?

You must surely have headed your debate team.

You can buy things at the “fake” market for sure, but the high end streets of Shangai host real deal lux retailers like Rolex and Luis Vuitton and the merch is authentic and expensive.

These idiots are more dumb than the kneelers.

They are not going home soon.

They'll be flying home tomorrow. (They could be a plane right now after the US embassy works out the details.) Fine (paid to Chinese), probably suspension from UCLA.

China doesn't need to imprison these retards to make a point. The ghetto grapevine will provide much more publicity about the dangers of acting black in China, rather than making them out to be martyrs.

Oh? I haven’t been to mainland China.

My experience with such matters comes from visiting Hong Kong back around 1990. And a couple short trips to South Korea in the mid-nineties.

I wonder how much Hong Kong has changed since 1997.

First, I’m not a fan of the NBA or college basketball, although I do enjoy March madness. Second, not all college basketball players, regardless of race, are thugs and racists. That’s my only point.

Well MrEdd, I didn’t say anything of the sort. My only point is that all college basketball players, regardless of race, aren’t thugs and racists. Nice smart ass remark about the debate team though. Not sure it has any relevance to my post.

Allegation is the three were caught shoplifting Louis Vuitton sunglasses. Just checked. Prices, retail, for those range from $400 to $800 a pair. Expensive? Check. Easy to pocket? Check. Retailer have an incentive to be anal about loss prevention? Check.

If the allegations are true, in addition to being sleazeballs, these guys are utter morons.
