What is This? They are Going up on Extra-Tall Utility Poles All Over the State

What is this?

I don't know what these are but they are installed every couple of miles around here. It is a big deal because an entirely new utility pole has to be installed which is at least 10 feet higher than the others.

That was my narrowed search after I identified them as DAS antennas. My first search was “device on top of utility pole” that’s how I found the matching picture in post 45.

There’s honestly nothing to it, you’re just putting an image that you want to post on an online “image server” that is always available, and copying the address where the online image server saved it which causes that image to show in your reply. Different types of websites have different formats for posting images, so these online image servers create multiple formats for popular website formats. The format that I know works on FR is “Hotlink for website.” Others may work as well but I know that one works so I always use it. I don’t even care about images I upload, it’s usually a one-time thing, so I’m not even signed up, I just go there, upload the image, copy the hotlink for website and post to FR.

That is what the HTML practice thread is for.
Spend 10 minutes or less and get it correct.

“A distributed antenna system, or DAS, is a network of spatially separated antenna nodes connected to a common source via a transport medium that provides wireless service within a geographic area or structure. DAS antenna elevations are generally at or below the clutter level and node installations are compact.”

The only ‘utility’ I see on that pole is a very high frequency transmitter/receiver antenna.

We’ve had a smart meter for electric for a couple of years. The power to the house is under ground. The meter sends it’s data via text messages to the power company. The good part is they know immediately if the power goes out in the area. Bad part is they want to bill us at a higher rate for peak times.
