A business woman was left outraged after Cardiff Council turned down her offer to feed homeless people saying they had “enough” food.
Louise Birch, from Bridgend , was stunned when her kind offer to provide a free hog roast to the city’s rough sleepers was turned down.
Instead she was told “there were enough people feeding them” and the council “weren’t allowing” anyone else to help out.
She now fears she could be moved on by police when she takes to the streets to offer food next weekend.
Louise, who works in events, said: “I called them up as a courtesy but they didn’t even want to take my call.
“They refused me and said homeless people didn’t need anymore, they had enough.
“That there was enough people feeding them and they weren’t allowing anymore.”
Louise said there was a group from the family-run business were planning to bring a hog roast van to Cardiff in the hope of serving up a hot hog bun with stuffing and a cup of tea to those on the street.
She is doing something similar but plans to go ahead in Cardiff as there are more homeless people in the capital.
Louise said she fears there is a real possibility the police could turn up and halt the whole thing.
She added: “I wanted to do this as near to Christmas I could get and offer people a hot meal.
“We want to set up a marquee and offer out the food but I can also drive or cycle and distribute it around.
“I’m not asking to build a house in the city centre.
“I wanted to do something. I’m not asking for money. I don’t mind if they take a few rolls for later on.”
Louise said she feared others hoping to do something similar may also have been put off by the council.
Cardiff council say they have lots of provisions in place to help homeless people including an additional emergency bed spaces over winter and a ‘Housing First’ model which moves rough sleepers straight from the streets into a permanent home.
A council spokesperson said: “We have had a requests from people and businesses who have said they would like to organise a food run for the homeless before Christmas and we are currently reviewing these offers.
“A curry night has been organised for Christmas Eve and our facilities will provide a turkey lunch on Christmas Day.

To my pet agenda. All states east of California need to give their homeless a one-way bus ticket there. The former Golden State has spearheaded many of the social changes that have swept the country. Let them wallow in their own policies.

Comment from California: My bet is that homeless encampments caused ALL of our recent fires - and the ones last year up north. I am with the City Council and Chickensoup. The bleeding hearts FEEEEEEEL like doing this; it’s like honey to flies. We in the Occupied Territories of California do NOT want more homeless to this way come.
The police chief in my town said the same thing. We had a homeless camp that they were trying to get rid of. The police patrolled several times a day, treated them with respect and tried to find them shelter which they refused. He said that by wanting to take them food and supplies, people were just encouraging them to stay. The trash and poor hygiene was too much and they needed to be encouraged to leave.
I can’t say that I disagree with the council. There’s a fine line between helping the poor and enabling them
The more goodies you give away, the more “homeless” you get. And then they become the responsibility of the city, since I don’t think Louise is going to take them home with her after the pig roast. So, yes, I’d say they had a right to be concerned.
The muslims don’t have to eat it, they can starve to death. I really don’t care.

All perfectly halal...council government wishes to curry favor with those who favor curry. And that means shiftless violent Pakis, not hardworking Hindus & Sikhs.
