Patton. The Bastogne segment near the end makes it one of the happiest true Christmas stories ever

“A Christmas Memory” by Truman Capote. It’s a slice of Depression Era Christmas with some great characters.

I can’t decide which version is better:

1997 version with Patty Duke.
- or -
1966 version with Geraldine Page and narrated by Capote himself

Good observation. That was very well done!

One of the best ever is Joyeux Noel or Merry Christmas. Tells the story of the WWI cease fire one Christmas Eve. Glorious music.

Did you ever see “The Last Days of Patton”?

It ends with a Children’s Choir singing “Silent Night” as Patton passes on.

I love the feel of A Christmas Story.

I have never seen It’s a Wonderful Life all the way through. I’ve seen the end a dozen times. I set out to watch it about 10 years ago and... next thing I know I’m waking up and it’s the ending again.

We’re very fond of Patton, but it doesn’t have any Christmas associations for us. Something to think about ...

We’re church musicians, so we tend to go to bed early the 24th to be ready for work Christmas morning. This year, we’re not playing until 1:00 p.m. on the 25th, so we could stay up late watching “Patton”!
