Decades ago I learned what hegemony.
The ChiCom’s favorite word to describe America’actions, whenever we stood for anything that was against their communism was:
Hegemony!
Whenever an outside writer or a Freeper uses the word hegemony to describe any action of America against any communist or jihadist country, that is a good indicator that we have a troll trolling against us.
Hegemony is not a term/word that probably 99/99% of us learn or use in life.

Perhaps because the word is so commonly misused. Liberals, notorious for seeking hegemony over all things, are quick to disparage the influence of freedom as the evil hegemony of capitalism.
Although the word “hegemony” itself is neutral, it has become a catchword of the left, and when used by them, has negative connotations. It is sometimes even used to criticize America’s largess and generosity to poorer countries, claiming an ulterior motive, as in the following anecdotal sentence:
“The only reason the USA provided aid after the earthquake was to establish American hegemony over that geopolitical sphere.”
It is a real word, but contains the same propaganda value as “Imperialism”, and “Capitalism”, which are similar favorites of Marxist polemic.
How about, rather than sending all of their landscaping income, they only send the hegemony?

btw, Tommy James (like me) was born here in Dayton, OH - he was certainly a hit machine but couldn’t duplicate on an album level.

I just loved reading about Chicago smacking down Obama’s monument to himself-saying they’d rather have their park than that f***ing ugly “presidential” center and garage-I hope that leaves a mark...

I have posted the same feelings re the use of Hegemony the past two decades. Often it is an overused word when a freeper posts an article from any communist, socialist or jihadist controlled country.
Certain words have been hijacked by the left, and will probably never have their original meanings ever again.
The most notable example of this is the simple 3-letter word that USED to mean “happy and carefree”.
