I thought, surely it can't be that bad. President Trump must have overstated it by calling it a sh**hole. I mean, after all we are still talking about a Caribbean island - turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, palm trees, maybe a few resorts. So I did a Google Image search of what I expected to be slightly less than an island paradise. Enjoy..

A lot of those photos are not of Haiti.
Based on the comment he added about meeting with the official from Norway, it tells me that the “shithole” comment was meant at the criminal government faction, not the location, not the people.
Haitians live in dire poverty; they’ve been given lots and lots of financial aid, which the government keeps for itself.
My Grandson spent some time over there with a Church outreach group a couple of years ago, and says the people seem to be very nice, and appreciative of help...however, he came home with Dung Fever and it took him weeks to get over it.
Shithole governments lord over these countries, and their product is poor, unsophisticated, ignorant, people...through no fault of their own.
We all have computers, and access to Google images, and we know there are beautiful places in Haiti...but there are some slummy places as well, and their shithole governments do NOTHING about cleaning them up, or helping the people.
And anyone who leaves used TP on the floor of an American restroom is from a s-hole country, too.

Trump is right. Why do we need people who don’t even have the skills to improve their own countries to come live here? I’m not talking building metropolitan cities, just basic water and sewer systems, passable roads, reliable power systems, and decent housing. None of this requires state of the art technology.
