Researchers from the International Agency for Research on Cancer say that bacon acts as a bit of a double whammy in that it is both a red meat and a processed meat.
In a question-and-answer session, a committee of scientists from The World Health Organization explained how exactly red and processed meats are carcinogens.
“According to the most recent estimates by the Global Burden of Disease Project, an independent academic research organization, about 34,000 cancer deaths per year worldwide are attributable to diets high in processed meat,” scientists said, adding that “diets high in red meat could be responsible for 50,000 cancer deaths per year worldwide”.

There was a book out in the 70’s I think that did research and showed no one who had never eaten bacon ever had cancer, and that all cancer victims had eaten bacon.

Let’s see. The world has an estimated population of about6.5 to 7,000,000 people, and only an estimated group of 84,000 may/could have/might have/possibly died from eating red meats/processed meats.

Easy. Buy the unprocessed style bacon without nitrites. I get migraines from the crappy kind of turkey bacon anyway so I always buy the healthier Brands. I never get a migraine from Applegate, a good brand.

Populations of US residents who eat a lot of bacon exclude very genetically gifted subgroups. Like most all of these alarms, all that is measured is demographics, not causes of illness or disease.

You have to try this since you have a easy source for pork belly as I do. Tears come to my eyes as I eat it is so damned good. Invite over some friends. There will be tears of joy around the table. Pair it with some lighter fair since this is pretty rich, but by God I know why he made pigs as I eat. He loves us... this makes it perfectly obvious.
