Readers' Poll: The 10 Worst Songs of the 1980s
rolling stone ^ | 10/6/2011 | Andy Greene

A few weeks ago we asked our readers to vote for their least favorite songs from the 1990s, so it was the obvious next move to dial it back 10 years and see what you guys hated in the 1980s. The results are sure to infuriate a lot of people. For the record, I personally disagree with most of these selections. In fact, I love a lot of these songs...

10. Rick Astley - 'Never Gonna Give You Up'...

9. Taco - 'Puttin' On The Ritz'...

8. Toni Basil - 'Mickey'...

7. Bobby McFerrin - 'Don't Worry Be Happy'...

6. Falco - 'Rock Me Amadeus'...

5. Men Without Hats - 'The Safety Dance'...

4. Wham! - 'Wake Me Up (Before You Go Go)'....

3. Chris de Burgh - 'Lady In Red'....

2. Europe - 'The Final Countdown'...

1. Starship - 'We Built This City'...

Thanks for overlooking my autocorrect of Casbah!

But could you imagine anyone giving the green light on that video in 2017?

I can’t believe you can still watch it on Youtube!

Agreed! Loved the Bangles and Cyndi Lauper, too. U2 was the 90s, I believe, and “ Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” was their overplayed one hit. So sick of it today.

Yep. LOL.

It's hard to overcome an intense dislike for a music artist, no matter how good one or two of their songs might be!

....and even though she's hawt....Kylies songs sucked, esp Locomotion:

That song is so bad, even Grand Funk Railroad couldn't salvage it.

I liked SNL’s parodies, like ‘We’re the Colts....What are you lookin’ at?’

or “We are kickers...we kick ball...”

1979 saw the release of the much overplayed “I Want You to Want me”

Sara Niemietz’s brilliant cover of same:

I have truly fond memories when that song plays.

There are many songs that the snobs here would say are not only bad but would disparage me for liking them. The thing is I love those songs because of what was happening to me at the time, and I really think that is as important to music as anything else.
