Well, the fallout is absolutely devastating. Unfortunately, these traits are exactly what the dogfighters were - and I assume (it’s still big business and big money) for which they are still breeding.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
“A good first step would be for shelters to adopt a policy of no adoption of pit bulls - hold 3 days and then put it down. It would clear out the shelters for animals that should be adopted.”
+++++++++++++++++++++++++

This would be an effective beginning. But consider how much it would cut into the fundraising of the “Best Friends” type animal rescues.

I have more information to process, and more financial aspects of this to digest, but I believe that at its source, the problem is spiritual and twofold:

1) The Love of Money, and
2) The Love of Death.

Never trust that an Animal will not act like an Animal.

We always owned Dogs and I never let them roam without being leashed and I never let People approach them without taking the time to acquaint them with the Animal to be sure there weren’t any issues.

RULE NUMBER ONE, never make a sudden move when meeting a Dog for the first time, especially near their face and head.

It’s the same as never taking your eyes off a Toddler for one split second if you own a Pool.

Imagine trusting a (modern day) Democrat to act like an America loving Patriot. They ae incapable of doing it simply because they simply hate America as founded.

Oh, come on. Surely you can do better than that. I thought for sure you'd come back hurling bricks and bottles ;-)

Sorry fly-boy. I learned long ago that is not the way to act on these dog-hater threads,or any thread for that matter.
I know where I stand on this matter. I have owned “pit-bulls” for over 20 years and my family years longer.
I lurked on this site for years until the false info on these Chet threads made me join. I equate them to pro-government,anti-gun threads.
Think about it for a minute. I’ve seen you post for years. Your a smart person. I thought it strange for you to come to such an emotionally charged thread and post mis-information.

Misinformation? No, it's just information you don't like, and don't want to hear.

Regardless of your personal experiences with the breed, the stats on pit bull behavior don't lie. The vast majority of these animals are unpredictable, dangerous, and more wild than domestic.

Yes, there are some mild mannered, well behaved pit bulls, but they're the exception - not the rule. In the main, they're a vicious breed of animal that isn't fit to be domestic pets. They belong in zoos - not back yards.

I guess your entitled to your opinion.

The word is you're, and yes, I am. So are you.

That said, my position on pit bulls isn't merely my opinion. More than anything, it's based upon a preponderance of facts.

Like the whole rat terrier thing. Your funny. And your facts are gleaned from anti-dog web site’s.
And again I am attacked for my grammar. I hope that makes you feel big. Just like the big lib you turned out to be. I can tell you are a city slicker because you have no knowledge of animal biology or husbandry.I have owned these dogs and researched them for 20 years. You want the government to come save you from the big bad dog. Please stay in your city, away from the good people who live away from the getto and know how to raise and control their pets.

“I have yet to find anyone who can prove his statistics false or his methodology any more flawed than that of the insurance industry - who have apparently reached the same conclusions of risk re these dogs.”

That statement is patently false and I challenge you to back it up with facts.

To be clear: You cannot.

If it were true, no homeowner would be able to get insurance on their dwelling or their rentals and this would have been litigated to death in the courts years ago.

I’ve attempted to inject some sanity into this pathetic debate about banning a breed, but I get stabbed in the eye no different than on other matters because I am an independent.

People are the problem and you’ve stated as much in your own comments. It is not a priority for any politician to push for legislation on regulating puppy mills.

Oh, NO. In my state it’s a greater priority to ban the trade of wood stoves in the interest of air quality.

If you really want to make a difference - obviously you have a dog in the fight (no pun intended) - you’ll adjust your approach. If not, relish in the fact that all you’re accomplishing here by repeatedly posting one-sided media reports on the effects of human failure is overwhelmingly inflaming an emotional reaction with a distinct minority being any cogent discussion on the causes whatsoever.
