“That is no small feat for any drummer of any age.”
Agreed, however it is easier to copy a master than to actually create a masterpiece. In the art world they are called forgers, because there is an intent to deceive. In music, it’s more of a requirement. As a drummer, you can substitute a Samba for a Rumba, but you can’t call it a Rumba.
John Henry Bonham was totally unique in his originality and style and he fit perfectly with his band mates because he was contributing his individual style which made Zeppelin what it was. If Page had been able to convince Keith Moon to join his “New Yardbirds” along with vocalist Terry Reid, the band would have evolved into something very different. It was Moon in fact that is credited with the band’s name because he said the project would go over like a lead balloon. When Reid turned down the gig, Page asked Robert Plant from the Band of Joy and Robert brought Bonzo with him.
It’s amazing how many child musical prodigies are Asian........
As you said, she’s only 8.
Every master creator studied and mastered the classics before moving on to create something new, and unique.
Mozart and Beethoven come to mind. Hendrix. Lennon & McCartney. Jagger & Richards. Zappa.
Still, most who master the classics never go on to do anything special. Let’s hope this girl has that spark.
Rock could use a new spark. It sometimes ignites a conflagration of innovation, as we saw in the 60’s.
I always said that if you have a neighbor you hate, buy his little kid a drum set for Christmas.......LOL!
And one of her goals is to learn how to play every instrument out there.........
Damn. Just damn.
