Kinda half Disco.. but was 'RAP' before it became a drug infused, sex influencing, violence needing guide to the next generation(s)...
I was young back then.. wish it would return again to the same way. (even if you don't prefer the music type (I honestly don't, times were better then))...
Still watching it..
LMAO (tears streaming down my face) silently, because I have a roommate that has no clue about this (and he is sleeping(Japanese))..
Seriously.. some good moves and some nice suits :D
“I’m goin’ back to Cali, Cali, Cali...”
Very fly...
But....where be the Locker Dancers?
Lol... I was kinda suspectin’ you would pop in ;^D
An awesome song!! Loved it in the scene from wedding singer with the Granny rapping it.
I'm not the only soul accused of hit and run
Tire tracks all across your back, I can
I can see you had your fun
But uh, darlin' can't you see my signals turn from green to red
And with you I can see a traffic jam straight up ahead
Jimi Hendrix - Crosstown Traffic
I'm freeping on my work break. Saw this and couldn't resist :-)
Fab Five Freddie told me everybody’s high
DJ’s spinnin’ are savin’ my mind
Flash is fast, Flash is cool
Francois sez fas, Flashe’ no do
And you don’t stop, sure shot
Go out to the parking lot
And you get in your car and you drive real far
And you drive all night and then you see a light
And it comes right down and lands on the ground
And out comes a man from Mars
And you try to run but he’s got a gun
And he shoots you dead and he eats your head
And then you’re in the man from Mars
You go out at night, eatin’ cars
You eat Cadillacs, Lincolns too
Mercury’s and Subaru’s
And you don’t stop, you keep on eatin’ cars
Then, when there’s no more cars
You go out at night and eat up bars where the people meet
Face to face, dance cheek to cheek
One to one, man to man
Dance toe too toe
Don’t move to slow, ‘cause the man from Mars
Is through with cars, he’s eatin’ bars
Yeah, wall to wall, door to door, hall to hall
He’s gonna eat ‘em all
Rapture, be pure
Take a tour, through the sewer
Don’t strain your brain, paint a train
You’ll be singin’ in the rain
I said don’t stop, to punk rock
Well now you see what you wanna be
Just have your party on TV
‘Cause the man from Mars won’t eat up bars when the TV’s on
And now he’s gone back up to space
Where he won’t have a hassle with the human race
And you hip-hop, and you don’t stop
Just blast off, sure shot
‘Cause the man from Mars stopped eatin’ cars and eatin’ bars
And now he only eats guitars, get up!
I’m actually watching it a second time.. Reminded me.. this is when I discovered ABBA and KISS..
Great song! Loved Jimi.
1960s Chess Records
Pigmeat Markham
Here Come The Judge

Clarence Reid (Blowfly) had been rapping since 1966
And Johnny Otis put out a XXX record with rapping under the name Snatch And The Poontangs (key cut Big John Peter or was it Jeeter)
Drum and bass, there it is, already been done, decades before what books will tell you
And I doubt Otis or Pigmeat invented it but among the first to widely record it.
I think “Hot Rod Lincoln” was the first rap song, that or, “Surfin’ Bird”
Now if we could only put this to Bluegrass (Ironhorse managed to put Metallica to Bluegrass.. maybe this would be possible ;^))
Debbie wasn’t much of a dancer in the video, but I love “Rapture.” Great song.
Groovy clothes in the Soul Train compilation.
Hey hon!! Long time no see (type)... Hope all is well on your side ;-)
Certainly in country there are elements of it and The Hot Rod Race was recorded by 2 different artists before Commander Cody revamped it in the early 70s
Otis.. wasn’t he R&B?
It’s nice to see you too! :) Hope you and yours are well!
