Wed raise our hands and be told, Dont be naysayers. We got strange comments, one engineer claimed. It seemed the ship had sailed. After that, if you ask questions, youre accused of mutiny, so you put your head down and make it work. Good people tried to make it work. But you cant violate the laws of physics. Its a mechanical catastrophe.

Dad’s had the 400, vynil top, and 4 doors in brown.
F550,,,
Whew,
Gotta be All Truck!
That’s why I got a
F250.
Made to Tow,
and does have a bug,
But I Love It!
Yes INDEED! Or better yet a small, constant speed diesel powered generator sending electricity to all 4 wheels.
I have a 79 K5 project Blazer.
Those years of Ford 4x4 and the early Broncos I always liked.
4 door like ones on The Streets Of San Francisco?
+1
Ford thought the German Getrag folks had a great idea but it turned out bad. I passed on a VW with automatic after learning that the 30K service included $500 for transmission service. The Focus 5 speed manual is a much better car but, unfortunately, Ford chose to build only a few of them. My Fords have obviously had a better record than most who have posted and the only problem I have had with my three Fords is a failed horn relay.
“Unmitigated POS”
Perfect description.
Eldest daughter is trying to unload hers. Her next vehicle will be Japanese.
All spark plugs start out as two and more parts...
Yes the ceramic insulator and the metallic base, but these are a bit more complicated.

A friend had a Chevy Citation, to remove one of the plugs , break off the insulator !!! Later they made a double-jointed plug wrench to do the trick. You could gain clearance with a floor hack moving the engine in the mounts.
I’ve seen others that hole sawing a nice access hole in the fender well was the hot setup.
It is said, any engine can go in any car if you can swing a heavy hammer.
But that Ford triton engine was in a class of its own.

My son had the VW diesel with the DSG (dual clutch) trans.
Having it serviced at the dealer put ordinary transmission service at almost the cost of the fuel.
Dot a bad job to change the fluid, but at the time Rostech ($200) was the least expensive option for resetting the OBD.
[[[Personally, I would favor a central hydraulic pump driving four hydrostatic slave motors, one on each wheel, a system used in very large industrial machinery. By reversing the flow on the hydrostatic motors, this system could also provide regenerative braking, using a pressurized reservoir.]]]
Remember an article about that in Mechanix Illustrated back in the 70’s.
Thanks for that background info. I had a 2004 mustang that worked great.
If they have issues now like you described, I may not get another one.
Yes it’s a beast. 11 foot hybrid road blade, center hydraulic PTO, and electronic spreader controls. I’m starting to like it. We had 30” of snow this week and the truck really works well.
Sometime between '73 and '78, Detroit manufacturing went into a death spiral. The pressures of rising fuel prices, economic malaise, and foreign competition caused the people who built the cars to focus more on staying high at work (and enjoying UAW-provided diversions during break time) than any sort of attention to the product they turned out.
Fleetwood Mac was turning out hits while inhaling mountains of cocaine, and the guys on the assembly line were saying "why should they have all the fun?"
The results were a big turn-off for a generation of car buyers, maybe two generations.
Now, Japanese, Korean, and German cars dominate the market. American manufacturers are concentrating on trucks.
Ford...F’ed Over Rebuilt Dodge.
“Automatic transmissions used to be such simple things.”
Just go back to ‘50’s Olds 4 speed hydromatic.
It’s about time someone exposed Fords Bunk DSP6 Transmission
******
Elaine: No, it’s not debunked, it’s totally bunk.
Jerry: Isn’t bunk bad? Like, that’s a lot of bunk.
George: No something is bunk and then you debunk it.
Jerry: What?
