City Of Dallas Shuts Down Business Of Man Who Called Cops Over 100 Times In 20 Months To Deal With Criminals Near His Car Wash

Let's talk about nuisance abatement laws. These are laws cities can use to shut down businesses that appear to draw more than their fair share of the criminal element.

If you're a fan of asset forfeiture, you'll love nuisance laws. By abdicating their law enforcement responsibilities, cities can have their lower cost cake and eat your property too. It's win-win for cities, who love to use laws like this to effectively seize property from citizens who have the misfortune to operate legitimate businesses in high crime areas.

Here's how it works in Dallas, Texas. The city says business owners must pay for their own security devices and personnel to keep their businesses free of criminals. No business will be compensated for these additional costs. All cops need to do is throw a couple of placards at the business and the city takes it from there. Criminal activity in the area is now the responsibility of businesses in the area. Can't get criminals to get off your property? Too bad. It's the city's property now.

Cool. So, if I keep calling the cops about the crooks in Congress, the cops will seize the property and shut it down. What’s their number?

The purpose of the police now is not to protect the public from criminals. It is to control you and me and to protect the public officials from us. Should they go after the criminal element, it is only make work. Their main purpose is to control the sheep and keep the sheep from the wolves.

He was just trying out the tool to see if it worked. Who knows? He might need it one day. He has to make sure that it is in working order.

The “It’s a small world” song from Disney world would have the same effect.

Harsh dude. Harsh.

“All he had to do is play that song “All I want for Christmas is a Hippo”...”

Accordion music. No one would be so horible as to use bagpipes.

Sonny LoSpecchio had the solution to this issue.

“Now youse can’t leave”

A major reason why the “Little Italy” neighborhood in NYC was so safe for so many years.

It would have driven off customers as well. Hard to run a business without customers. Ever tried it?

"...We would go by slow, turn off the key, punch the throttle once and turn the key back on. It would cause a very loud backfire...."

Great technique...I think that only works with stick shift cars, correct?

It will work on autos also as long as the torque convertor is still locked up enough to make the engine keep turning just a bit as you roll. Hard on mufflers though, makes them puff up and sometimes split a seam. But in those days we were all using glass pack bullet mufflers that had no baffles. :)

I don’t see the problem here. They don’t need the cops. All they have to do is read Texas Penal Code § 9.41, which states:

“A person in lawful possession of land or tangible, movable property is justified in using force against another when and to the degree the actor reasonably believes the force is immediately necessary to prevent or terminate the other’s trespass on the land or unlawful interference with the property.”

Tell them to get off the land, and if they take an obvious step toward you, and they will as they are idiots, you are justified in using the force needed to protect your life and property. That’s where the concealed carry becomes the tool it is designed for. And if they stand across the street and yell at you, openly laugh at them.

If a few of these small minded fools get shot, they will not stay around. Problem solved.

".... in NY the citizens Advisory Board would recommend putting police in jail for doing their job...."

In San Francisco, with this new radical Leftist DA and his pro-criminal policies, they would arrest the business owner for simply engaging in normal commerce by daring to make the criminals look bad.

The criminals would be the victims and the business owner would be the bad guy.

This is where the radical Left democRATS are steering this country. To third world status.

There are no adults left standing to stop this insanity.

You might remember this, but a lot of the 60s and 70s model auto trans could actually be roll started if you could get it up to about 20 miles an hour.

That's what I thought about autos...not enough direct link-up as with sticks....but you confirmed all my thoughts. Glass packs ruled!!

Ahh the good old days...thanks.

I’m sure the “no bail” policies will cure this, just give it time, correct?

Sure do remember that. You either had to have about 5 guys pushing the car or be lucky enough to have a street on a hill...

Us stick shift guys never had that issue...just get her rollin' about 2-3 miles/hour and jump in, pop the clutch and you were good to go.

I miss those days myself. Now the new open ended loosely defined retroactive “modified exhaust” laws have ruined it all, can’t even sport glass packs on a classic vehicle that were installed back in the 70s when they were completely legal.
