Democrats & Jim Crow: A Century of Racist History the Democratic Party Prefers You'd Forget

In the last Presidential election, Donald Trump was lauded for his performance among black voters – he scored 4 percent of female black voters and a whopping 13 percent of black male voters, the highest since Richard Nixon. This isn’t shocking. Black voters have voted en masse for the Democratic Party since the mid-60s and the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act and the social welfare programs of the Great Society. This solidified black voters behind the Democratic Party, but they had been moving there since the New Deal.

However, it’s a historical anomaly in the United States. The traditional home of the black voter was the Republican Party, due to its historical role in ending slavery and introducing Reconstruction Acts and Amendments to the Constitution. It also did not help that the Democratic Party was the party of Jim Crow, a system of legally enforced segregation present throughout the American South in the aftermath of the Civil War.

How can anyone forget? They’re still as racist as ever!

And DO NOT let them get away with saying “oh, all that changed in the 60s.”

The democrats embraced and lionized sheets byrd, the kennedies and so many other racists.

They want one thing and one thing only: power through votes. lbj could count and made the realization.

They are as racist now as when they owned the slaves and organized the kkk. It is just their pointy hats are camouflaged.

No one should ever forget that the Democrats instituted and upheld the abomination of racial segregation.

Blacks are starting to wake up that liberal whites are very racist

They’re condescending in their racism. The worst kind

That stuff drives me crazy. They just wave their magic wand and somehow the Democrats get to “own” all the good stuff — Lincoln freeing the slaves — and Republicans get stuck with all the bad stuff — Jim Crow. Because, you know, the parties some how “changes places”.

Ridiculous.

I’ve been saying that the democrats have always been racist. Only the targets of their hate change.

They realized that harvesting votes could be more lucrative than harvesting cotton, and that they could even pretend to have the moral high ground.

Every time I hear a leftist make that claim, I always ask them to explain:

“When did that happen?”
“How did that happen?”
“Who were the major players involved in making that happen?”
“Was it sudden or a gradual change?”
“Where are the college courses or PHD thesis papers about this?”

No one has ever even tried to answer any of those questions.

Some good information here but we need to do a LOT more research on this.

Their view of minorities hasn’t changed one iota in the 200 years since their party was founded.

The only thing that has changed is the color of the hoods.

That’s true. They change according to whom or what they can exploit.

And then you can only cluck your tongue and marvel as leftist college admins begin reintroducing segregation – once again framing it as a protective measure, just for the other side.

It’s easy when everyone with a journalism credential or a teaching position bleats precisely how you demand them to.
