On Wednesday, the wife of Chad Read, a man shot and killed November 5, released the video of the confrontation leading up to and the shooting itself.
The video was released by attorney Matthew L. Harris, who is representing Read’s widow, Jennifer. It was released in conjunction with a petition that seeks to take custody of Chad’s children from his ex-wife Christina Read.
According to the release, the video depicts William “Kyle” Carruth shooting and killing Read during a confrontation.
As of Wednesday, Carruth had not been arrested or charged with a crime. While his name was associated with the shooting in family court documents, police have not officially released his name because he has not been charged.

He was trespassing after he was told to leave private property.
He threatened to take the gun away and use it on the property owner.
He may have been right about the custody schedule, but he’s dead right now.
And it will never gain traction in the mainstream media. Wrong ethnicities involved.
Don’t know how the legalities will shake out but grabbing a gun held by someone else is rarely a good idea.
After being repeatedly told to leave the property was there any valid reason (warrant or other court order) for Chad Read to remain on the property, even to go up on the porch, to physically shove Carruth, and to attempt to grab Carruth’s weapon?

“Whom the gods would destroy they first make angry.”
Tough one as far as I am concerned. Man should have gotten out of his face and he should definitely have not tried to grab his gun.
People are going crazy. Politicians and media fuel it. Custody fights are tough enough without weapons.
Tough?
OK.
Stupid prize awarded.
It might. As an example they’ll twist to serve a purpose.
It’s a good shoot.
Guy gets up in his face when confronted with a gun and told to leave. Kyle Carruth even fires a warning shot in the ground before Read advances.
Then Read attempts to take the gun. At that moment it is, besides trespassing, assault / battery with a deadly weapon.
Read played stupid games. He won stupid prizes.

The gentleman holding the arm was correct in his handling position of the firearm, from my perspective.
These were to cocks going at it (as in a FARM setting), being egged on by the former husband’s new wife......
He might have wanted to see his kid/s.....
Going to somewhere it is NOT his property....not leaving when ASKED to leave, getting in THE FACE of the current resident.....then attempting to GRAB the current resident’s firearm.....
Not a hard decision to make..... Yes; it might be heartbreaking....but on legal grounds? Not a hard decision from my perspective.
New wife was most likely egging her husband on since the marriage about the ex........
ack..... ‘two’ cocks, no ‘to’....
Folks are going to ask why the cops weren’t called out first. Maybe they were and on their way. Maybe not.
The photo alone tells the story.
Look at the difference in size of the two men. Look at the dead man’s stance, towering over the guy and crowding his personal space.
Clearly a bully with a temper.
And on the other guy’s porch.
I would have shot him.
An immediate threat, disparity of force
And from the photo shown, very difficult to retreat into the house.
The property owner escalated the situation by going and getting a gun. He appeared to fire once at the victim’s feet when a struggle ensued. The shooter then backed off where there was no immediate threat of the victim obtaining the gun and then shot him. I don’t know the law where they are, but this shooting is questionable whether it was self defense or not. There are no winners in this.
Some people gotta have drama. Then, she sees a shooting and is seemingly unfazed by it.
You could say that about home invasions too.
"If the homeowner hadn't retrieved his weapon, no one would have been hurt."
"Property is not worth a human life."
