Until they discovered the remains they claimed it never existed.

True they took the name from the Bible once it was discovered, yet those who now write about it and do history on it still claim the Bible is useless for historical purposes.

It is a valid statement, regardless if they originally took the name from the Bible. Now that they have other ancient archeological writings that use the same name for them from other cultures like ancient Assyrian and Babylonian records.

In universities where they teach about the ancient Hittites, they still refuse to admit the Bible is accurate for History.

Fact.

I have commented that calling these people “Hittites” is a little bit like calling the people of Albany, NY “Albanians.”

If it’s a Greek statue, what does it have to do with the Hittites? Does it have the name “Ahhiyawa” written on it? We are told that’s what the Hittites called the Greeks.

No, "they" didn't. And the Old Testament doesn't talk about a Hittite empire. What you are saying is simply not true, period.

Those Greeks, they got around.
In Search of the Trojan War is a 1985 6-part British TV documentary series written and presented by Michael Wood. It examines the extent to which historical and archeological evidence matches with the tale of the Trojan War as recounted by Homer in The Iliad.

It is a fact that until the ruins were discovered, the atheists declared the Bible was wrong, because it listed people who were Hittite, and the nation of the Hittites. They claimed such a place did not exist, so how could people from there exist, or the events mentioned exist. Thus they claimed the Bible is not suitable for using as history. They discounted the flood, the Red Sea crossing and the very idea that such people as Hittites ever existed, and thus the Bible was full of fictitious stories. Some even still claim that king David never existed.

Below is the times the word Hittite or Hittites is used in the Old Testament. The most famous is Uriah the Hittite who was married to Bathsheba whom David had an affair with and ultimately had Uriah killed to cover up his affair, Because he impregnated Bathsheba.

By the way, you are welcome for the history lesson, unless you now want to add to your ignorance, by standing by your claim that the Bible doesn’t talk about the Hittites.

Maybe you would like to double down and claim the Bible is a fictitious book, and whatever it has in it is made up, like so many atheists did for 1000s of years. Then when it was discovered to actually exist, they still claim the Bible is useless for historical purposes.

Yo, stupid, the Hittites are mentioned, but not as an empire. So, once again, no, you’re wrong, in fact, you’re just lying.

First off, this back and forth has never been about anyone recognizing anyone as an empire, my original point, and please go back and read it, was about recognizing the Hittites existed, Scholars claimed the Bible made up the Hittites, yet come late 1800s the scholars finally found the ancient remains off the Hittite.

As for recognizing any other nation as an empire, if you look at the ancient tablets of these various nations long lost they themselves do not recognize each other as empires. Not until long after many of these empires were gone did some even suggest they were empires.

Wasn't until Ptolemy of Egypt that nations even cared about the past of other societies. This is why the great library of Alexandria existed, and he is the one who hired Jewish scholars to write the old Hebrew writings in Greek for his library, thus we have the Pentateuch, which was translated from ancient Hebrew into Classical Greek.

It was after Ptolemy that other great societies began following Egypt's lead in keeping records of other past societies, but before that when a nation destroyed another they systematically destroyed all record threat nation ever existed. OH, they did record their exploits in wars, but always heavily written to favor their society, so it is difficult to know how the warts left.

In the great battles between the Egyptian power and the Hittite powers, each side took credit for winning thew war in their writing to keep the people from rebelling, and to show them the kings/Pharaohs were all powerful in destroying other nations.

Israel is the only one of the ancient civilizations that actually recorded all their own defeats and victories as they accused. However, like the Muslims still do, most nations in ancient history destroyed as much of the culture of the other nation as they could. So what would they ever admit the opponent was an empire, they wrote their history to claim they were the first and only empires.

Thus the Egyptian, Assyrians, and the Babylonians have no ancient writings that shows they themselves even recognized another nation as being an empire. There is nothing in their ancient writings that ever refer to other powers around them during or before as being recognized empires, until Ptolemy, and he may be the first also to recognize that the Medo-Persians as an empire whom Alexander conquered.

At the time of their great battles, neither the Hittites nor the Egyptians recognized each other as being empires, great nations maybe, but not empires. Egyptians did not see the Hittites as an empire, the Assyrians did not ever record Egypt as being an empire, and the Medo-Persians never referred to Babylon as an empire. the Bible never refers to any power as an empire, great nations maybe, but even at that they never referred to Egypt as a great nation. And they were a bonafide empire by todays standards. Same with the Assyrians and Medo-Persians. They referred to them as great nations, but not empires . Heck, they considered some of the same kingdoms as great nations. So what your point is is baffling.

Besides, my point from the beginning of this back and forth was the Bible referred to the Hittites, not that they ever admitted they were an empire. You even claimed the Bible never mentioned them, and once I proved it now you move the marker and claim they had to have mentioned the Hittites were an empire.

Here are each and every reference the Bible has on the Hittites. A few thought of them to be powerful enough to ask them to help defeat the Egyptians, so obviously the Israelite's believed the Hittites were powerful enough to take on Egypt. However, the Hittites were well known, but they were well outside the sphere of influence of Israel, and Israel's interest as for the biblical history goes was mote about those who interacted with them, and as I said, they did hire the Hittites to help defeat the Egyptians.

Below is all the verses where the word Hittite, or Hittites were mentions in the Old Testament.

Gen 15:20  And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,

The Hittites as an empire received their name due to the existence of the name of some local yokel tribe by that name, found in the Old Testament. That happened precisely because the people who did that were looking for names for previously unknown people in the Bible. Period. So yes, you are dead wrong, and you don't have any proof for your foolish trope, and you're just continuing your idiotic troll behavior in a GGG topic.
