Not a thing. I live. Same thing I do when I visit NJ and they pump my gas.
I look at my phone. I am at peace. I laugh at the free labor down at the self-checkout lines
(December, 2022) Walmart is a global retail giant whose stock is considered a blue chip.
Although its stock was typically considered a value investment, Walmart's fundamentals may be changing.
The company's strong financial performance is comparable to the likes of Costco and Target.
Walmart has a stronger price-to-earnings and price-to-book ratio compared to its two major rivals.
Walmart falters in certain financial metrics, such as its return on equity, debt-to-equity ratio, and current ratio.
You accuse the wrong person, even if they don’t touch them, expect a lawsuit.
They didn’t make a lot of friends the way they treated customers during the Covid hysteria. And the one way isles? That corporation must be run by lunatics.
Referring to China Mart.
Avoid the delay and hassle. Bypass checkout and just walk out with the merchandise as so many others are doing. Nobody is stopped for stealing even when they are flagrant about it.
Save time, too, by starting on the aisle where they display the big black plastic garbage bags, and grab some so you can scoop everything off the shelves into your stolen bags and throw the full bag(s) over your shoulder to walk out.
Fight grocery inflation...Steal ‘em blind. It’s really trending in America.
Eventually, I imagine there will be no checkout at all. You just pick up what you want and walk out the door. As you walk out you’re debited the cost of the groceries.
Well the grocery unions will be happy if self checkout is gone. Ensures bodies in the store and union dues in the coffers.
When I head to the checkout I calculate what will get me out of the store fastest. Usually that is the self checkout.
We went to see a movie yesterday, and there’s no area out front to buy tickets. Inside there’s a bank of screens where you’re supposed to buy tickets with a debit or credit card. We almost walked out as we object to “them” having a paper trail of what movies we see. Then we saw a lonely lady at the back who was able to sell us tickets.
Most of the big box chains won’t stop blatant shoplifting, especially if from a protected class.
Anyone who knows they can shoplift with impunity isn’t going to bother pretending to go through the self-checkout.
I actually prefer self checkout. Even if I group my purchases on the conveyor, the checker still screws it up. I want all my cold stuff or all my toiletries in one bag. I’m tired of finding Draino sitting on top of my hamburger when I get home.
[Keep a careful eye on self-checkout...]
I doubt a store cashier would catch it or even care. If you want something done right...
Who are you? The Walmart coppers?
Self checkout as per the article, is a bad idea. Hopefully it ends sooner rather than later.
[What do they pay you for standing in line?]
Or for re-sorting you items when you get home. Let me bag it how I like it.
They had a valid state-issued ID, they were just to dumbass to read it.
I bag slow. I was a bag boy in high school, and I bagged slow there too. Convinced me to go to college and become an engineer.
Anyway, I take my time bagging groceries and usually have some nice music going in my bluetooth hearing aids.
Hard to believe you still have to unload your cart to scan your items. Should just be.able to pay on the way out, after some kind of full cart scan, and dump the stuff in the trunk of your car.
What does the mom with 2 or 3 kids and an overflowing cart do?
Kids, a huge collection of bags she had to bring from home, frozen foods thawing, and ice cream melting while she handles all of this?
Self checkout needs to be fool proof, not require optical scanning.
RFID is the future of checkout (Amazon running tests...)
You can be sure it’s coming soon to a corporate store near you.
That’s why they have a person watching it like hawks. Self checkout is not going away and will basically completely take over. There will be fewer and fewer humans in the store.
Full service will become a dinosaur like those full service gas pumps in NJ.
