John 19
1 Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.
2 And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,
3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.

Lord Jesus, what You through we are not worthy. But You loved us so much and cared so much for us that You went through even this for our sins. You loved us before we were even born Lord and we are not worthy. Forgive me where I have sinned. Let others see You through me that I might be a witness for You to spread the Gospel, not only of the Cross but the empty Tomb as well. Lord, I ask that You watch over each and every request here on the thread, spoken and unspoken. Hear our cries and deliver us so that You recieve the glory. I thank You for what You are doing in my life and know that I will be delivered from my enemies. I thank You for what You are doing that I can't even see yet. Help my unbelief when I am weak and guide my heart. I know You are working on hearts and wills of those we love as I speak. Lift me up and help me keep the course however tough it may be. In Christ's Holy Name. Amen

An idea for Easter with kids

RESURRECTION COOKIES!

Read the whole recipe before beginning. Try to do it together!

Saturday night before Easter Sunday. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

Ingredients:

1 cup whole pecans
1 cup sugar
1 pinch of salt
3 egg whites
1 tsp. vinegar

You need:

Mixing bowl
Wooden spoon
Bible
Zipper baggie
Waxed paper
Cookie sheet
Tape

Place pecans in zipper baggie and let children beat them with the wooden
spoon to break into small pieces. Explain that after Jesus was arrested,
the Roman soldiers beat him. Read John 19:1-3

Let child smell the vinegar. Put 1 tsp into mixing bowl. Explain that
when Jesus was thirsty on the cross, He was given vinegar to drink. Read
John 19:28-30

Add egg whites to the vinegar.

Eggs represent life. Explain that Jesus gave His life to give us life.
Read John 10:10-11 Sprinkle a little salt into each child's hand. Let
them taste it and brush the rest into the bowl. Explain that this
represents the salty tears shed by Jesus' followers, and the bitterness
of our own sin. Read Luke 23:27

So far, the ingredients are not very appetizing.

Add 1 cup sugar. Explain that the sweetest part of the story is that
Jesus died because He loves us. He wants us to know and belong to Him.
Read Psalm 34:8 and John 3:16 Beat with a mixer on high speed for 11-15
minutes until stiff peaks are formed.

Explain that the color white represents the purity in God's eyes of
those whose sins have been cleansed by Jesus. Read Isaiah 1:18 and John
3:1-3

Fold in broken nuts. Drop by tsp onto waxed paper-covered cookie sheet.
Explain that each mound represents the rocky tomb where Jesus' body was
laid. Read Matt. 27:65-66
Put cookie sheet in the oven. Close the door and turn the oven OFF. Give
each child a piece of tape and seal the oven door. Explain that Jesus'
tomb was sealed.

Read Matt. 27:65-66 Go to Bed! Explain that they may feel sad to leave
the cookies in the oven overnight. Jesus' followers were in despair when
the tomb was sealed. Read John 16:20 and 22

On Resurrection Morning open the oven and give everyone a cookie! Notice
the cracked surface and take a bite. The cookies are hollow! On the
first Resurrection Day, Jesus' followers were amazed to find the tomb
open and empty. Read Matt. 28:1-9

HE HAS RISEN! HALLELUJAH!

To: billbears; *Daily prayer; AnnaZ; Mercuria; lowbridge; glock rocks; mtngrl@vrwc; AFVetGal...
This coming week is one of many prayers. As I give thanks to God for the eternal life granted His children by the sacrifice of His son, and pray for my fellow FReepers, I ask that you continue to remember me in prayer, if you would?

My first surgery is just around the corner; it is this week, on April 4th at 9am Central. I am frightened -- more frightened than I was about my first brain surgery. This surgery will take place in the hospital because of my pre-existing conditions, and general poor health, as well as an irregular heart rhythm discovered in the ER on a recent Sunday morning. It is, however, "only" oral surgery performed under general anesthesia, where I will have all of my remaining teeth (as nasty as they are, it is still a frightening thought) removed, and dentures put in, for the first time -- obviously.

My oral surgeon has warned me of several painful and uncomfortable (and scary!) possible resulting occurrences, which is his job, but I almost wish I didn't know about them. I am also frightened because of a previous surgery, where I was in the O.R. and was paralyzed before I was unconscious! It was horrible, and I dread it ever happening again!!

I will be an outpatient, but I will spend most of the day at the hospital, on I.V.s, and pain medication. I will probably come home that night, but will be unable to talk (yeah, yeah -- I know! *G*), and probably will sleep most of the time for a while.

The surgery will be at Tri-Star's Summit Medical Center, and if anyone wants to call and check on me, I can give you more information, if you'll FReepmail me. I'm sure I won't be answering the phone at the hospital, but my fiance will be there; his name is Bob.

Thank you all, for all of your kind words, your posts, and your prayers! This is it; it's almost time, and I'm very, very frightened. (I don't know why -- I just am.)

Much love to you all, God bless, and Happy Easter (and Happy Passover!).

With gratitude,
Sharon

God bless you, lowbie! Tell you what -- as soon as I'm "re-constructed" (Phase I, at least! *G*), I'll send you some photos so you can see my new choppers and lop off my head, if you so desire! *G* I can send you some older photos, for you to lop, if you'd like?! *VBG*

Truly, your prayers and encouraging words mean a lot to me! I shouldn't be this frightened -- I'm a pro at this, for heaven's sakes! ;-}

Many blessings to you!!

Thank you so much, mountaineer! I honestly appreciate all the prayer and support I get here; it's not something I say lightly. I mean it, from the bottom of my heart! You are very kind, and your words do help me relax a bit. I've read the posts directed to me on this thread several times now. Each time, it helps bolster me and buoys my spirits. I cannot thank you enough! God bless you!

You will be in my prayers, SLJP. You are a brave woman, and you will come through this just fine.

Before surgery, think of pink boxes. That's gotten a lot of my friends through surgery. The pink boxes are cake boxes that were always a happy time when we were kids.

God bless and keep you safe!
