I'm sure. There is no such thing as too much schmoozing, Gran. That's like saying someone has too much sex, you know what I mean? Life is meant to be enjoyed and lived to the fullest, IMHO. ;-)

Better laugh lines than frown lines, no?

I'm sorry I had to leave you Kathy, but I had a man to feed...

I agree with you, never too much schmoozing, and if you're lucky, there is never enough of anything good..if you're lucky...

I don't think I have any frown lines..but I have my share of laugh ones.. Thank goodness...

Exactly. Who wants to end up with a face like Hillary Clinton? Or Eleanor Clift. :-0) (shudder)

There is too much misery in the world to dwell on it constantly, IMHO. At some point, we must accept the things we cannot change, and move on. Life is too short. Why waste time being unceasingly miserable? Schmoozing and laughing are good for the soul.

But enough philosophy here, on to more pressing issues...did the Captain bring back anything pretty from the junkyard for you? ;-)

Good afternoon, finally got online...spent the morning, cooking up a storm, for the rest of the week...sometimes, I get in these 'wanting to cook' moods, and when I do, I just cook away....which is great, as now I have a couple meals prepared in advance...todays menu, was of course BigDoms BigSalad(chock full of ingredients), deep fried cod, with deep fried hush puppies, accompanied by slices of lemon and malt vinegar, and some lightly sauteed spinach....that deep frying will clog your arteries, but its just sooo yummy...besides we rarely have deep fried foods, so todays meal was an extra special treat....

Westy....thanks for last nites pic, and more pics of hot climes please...our overnight lows are in the low 40s, and since I refuse to turn on the heat, need some hots pics...

Gran....love your curtains...you really do have such a lovely home, so graciously decorated...was that a Christmas tree I saw in the background?

AC.,.what a grand Cathedral in Santiago...I bet the inside is just full of magnificent art....seems that in Europe, old churches and cathedrals were repositories for some of the worlds greatest art....

Habs...take care of that tummy...we dont want you ill...

Dark....are you interested in that slut underwear for the invisible woman?

Kathleen...yes, that was a shame about Mr. Peabody...and I agree 100percent on your philosophy...lets have a good time while we are still able...enjoying life to its fullest is the only way to go...

BigDom just pulled out all of the mail he got at our box at the post office...now, for years and years, we received tons and tons of catalogs and magazines, selling everthing under the sun...most of those were really hangovers from my mom and dads address, when I had all their mail sent to us, when we moved mom in with us...

Dad loved to shop, especially at flea markets, yard sales, and hardware and sporting goods stores...he also relished ordering things through magazines and catlogs through the mail....consequently we wound up getting huge bundles of such....most of the time we never ordered anything and little by little we started getting less and less catalogs...

But in the last few years, Bigdom started ordering CDs, and VCR tapes through magazines...and you know how that goes, once you are on one or two lists, ,those companies sell your name, and before we knew it, we are again receiving lots and lots of magazines....

Now that Labor Day is over with, the the gateway to the Holiday Season is open, all the magazines, are really out in full force, with advertisements for naturally Halloween, and slowly Christmas stuff...so we spent this morning just have a good old time, going through these catalogs and magazines, discarding those which have nothing we are interested in, but holding on to a few, for further consideration...

I am sure we will be adding to supporting the economy, by ordering a number of things...we always buy a number of new Christmas ornaments every year....Currently we put up three trees, and they are loaded to the hilt, but what the heck, new ornaments are always fun....besides, I bought a couple of smaller table sized trees, a few weeks ago, trees to put in the bedrooms...I guess, next to dollies, my favorite thing to collect is Christmas ornaments...

Andy says I have enough ornaments to supply the whole neighborhood...he says he will never have to buy any ornaments..he just picks through mine...the ones he especially likes are those he and I made together many, many years ago...they are just simple shapes, made out of felt, stuffed, flooded with glitter, and you can tell a kid made them with his moms help...yet they are the most charming to me, because of course, Andy made them...he really enjoys seeing them each year on the main Christmas tree...in time they will be his...if they last that long...year by year, they get more worn and tacky....but they are so very dear...

This is my favorite time of year...I love autumn, with the changing colors, and crisp air, and love the little ones out at Halloween....and then the smell of the turkey and fixins at Thanksgiving, and the crowded stores, and Christmas decorations, heralding the Christmas season to come...

Can ya tell, I am excited?

Hi Mom.. Just checking in before checking out.. Wonderful letter and I can feel your enthusiasm for the holidays. Hopefully, you will keep it coming and spark all of us for every holiday that comes up..

Yes Mom that is one of my Christmas trees.. I keep it lit all year, and usually have candles in my windows until I have to keep them open for the summer. They tend to get in the way then.. Lots of homes in this area keep trees and window lights on all year. I guess it's a country thing..

I was reading about your felt ornaments for the tree. I have them too. I made many when the kids were little. Mine are all kinds of birds of different colors with jewels and sequins all over them.. I have babies in their nests, etc. The kids made some birds and regular shaped ornaments. I still have them and keep them in tissue and put them on the tree every year.. I remember my Mom sitting with me and watching me make them, and suggesting new birds and colors.. It was so much fun, and I still love them.. I let the kids glue theirs, but mine were all sewn..

I will have the thrill of getting a tree in Fl this year. It will be our first.. I guess I'll have to buy all new decorations tho.. All I had last year was a stuffed snowman my girlfriend gave me..but of course we came home and didn't need anything..

See you tomorrow.. ;)

That is really interesting about having a Christmas tree up year round...I like that idea, I like it a lot....and its really very interesting, that many folks in your area do the same thing....

I usually dont put my artificial trees up until after Thanksgiving, but I dont take them down until Feb 1st....I so love Christmas trees, just hate to take them down...usually near the end of Jan. BigDom is grumbling about them, and reminding me that Christmas is over, and they need to come down...he knows nagging me will not make me take them down any sooner, but its just his way, I guess..

The front room, always has a live Fraser fir, and that, or course cannot go up quite as early, and needs to come down the week after Christmas...we go to a local tree farm, ask for the area of Fraser firs, that is open that year, get our saw, and then scout out the biggest tree we think we can cram into the house...need one great big and fat and fluffy, and tall...we always get the Fraser firs, as they are really magnificent trees, and seem to really last and stay fresh for a long time...of course, the fact that we cut it fresh, keeps it fresher longer...when we return from the tree farm, BigDom takes the tree out back, to a huge plastic garbage can, filled with water, and in he plops the fresh Fraser fir....within a day, that tree has soaked almost all the water up, through its trunk, so we know when we bring it in the house, its full of water....

We get the Fraser fir, for its looks and its ability to stay fresh, and also because Fraser is my maiden name, tho my maiden name is spelled a little differently, its still pronounced the same....

I love Christmas...we have lots of trees, other decorations all over the house...and of course, since I am the dollie collector, lots of dolls in Christmas clothing are placed throughout the house...and then I have lots of the animated dolls going, a Victorian couple, and boy and girl in winter outdoor clothing, and a boy and girl wearing their Christmas red outfits...and a couple of Santas, sitting at a desk, checking the list, and surrounded by gifts.....

Once everything is up and running, and the trees are all decorated, and the lights are sparkling, I am one happy gal...

We dont have any outdoor lites....for some reason we have never gotten into that...but many of the homes in our neighborhood put on a ton of lights, so they more than make up for our lack of outdoor lighting....the homes with their various outdoor lighting displays are really fabulous...

BigDom and I like to drive around all the different neighborhoods and see all the outdoor lighting...there is a particular neighborhood up in Tacoma, near the post office where BigDom works, and they have an especially beautiful few blocks where just about every house is lighted up and it looks like they are all competing with each other, to see who can have the biggest and best displays...its all too much fun...

When Bigdom and I were dating, we used to go up to this area of Chicago called Sauganash...I am not sure if that is the correct spelling...

Anyway, this was an area of very rich and wealthy people...and they put on some of the most amazing outdoor and window and indoor displays I have ever seen...every Christmas when we were dating, and later when we were married and had the boys, we would set aside one special night, to go through Sauganash, and just ooohh and aaahh, at all those wonderful displays...

I have heard that nowdays, Sauganash is so popular, that you actually have to make a reservation time for driving through this neighborhood...I am also not sure if now you have to pay to see all this...

But years ago, it was free, and not as well known as today, so we got a wonderful free tour every single Christmas...

Ah, Christmas, it truly is the most wonderful time of the year....

Yep, thats about what it is here...I have been so enjoying not having the bigger gas bills, that I just hate to turn on the heat...

But I also do not like having cold fingers and cold toes...I suppose I would put on thick socks, except I hate socks, and I sure cant wear gloves and be on line...

So, I suppose I have to open up my tightwad purse, and get ready to start paying for heating again...NUTZ....
