But I have been shocked and saddened at some of the others who have taken to using childish means when they don't see eye-to-eye with others. It scares me, too. What will happen in 2004? Will conservatives unite again to battle the liberals? Or will we have a replay of '92 when someone unworthy gets elected because the conservatives would rather trash each other than fight the enemy?
God help us!

The beer and Jack can be left out of the recipes. They add a depth of flavor, but for a lot of soups, beans, etc. just leaving the alcohol out still leaves a wonderful tasting meal. Just tell your son to start experimenting with those recipes as the base.

Kay, my 'steamed gourd' tirade was directed at him because he lumped all of us defenders (it seemed) and called us 'pedodefenders'...
....Folks don't realize that many on those 'Smokey Room' threads are so incensed with the verdict, they are doing excellent research & sleuthing on their own...(ala AlamoGirl) to figure out the facts of the case, and then they articulate it so well.
I respect that approach, and careful attention to detail.
Those who get called names, call names back sometimes, for sure.
But it seems to me (IMO) that the DW folks are trying to make sense of a very large mystery....but the other folks can't stand the idea that there are those who want to dig & reveal as much as they can, because they truly want to get to the truth.
OK enough already :)

Sorry I am late answering; my daughter stopped by and needed the computer for college work.
I have had vile things sent to me by private mail, been called every name in the book, have been followed from thread to thread, and generally attacked because I am a woman who supports the President.
BUT, greater is the power given to me by the Holy SPirit, and I REFUSE to stoop to the level of those folks. John is riight; we must set the example, both here and when we are on the dark side. To retreat helps no one, because then the nasty folk have no one to balance them.
We MUST keep on keeping on, coming here when the battle gets to be too much.
At least that is my opinion, for what it's worth.
It's very close to the dark-side, but not quite.....

Back during the post-election trauma many people decided that FR had saved them a ton of money in therapy bills. That was quite a time!
Too many of us virtually lived here ...... grasping at every bit of news, reading about FReeps around the country but particularly in Florida and DC, praying together .... ignoring housework (there were discussions over who had the largest dust bunnies in their house) ..... few of us could even get in the holiday spirit until the Supreme Court decision came down. Then there was a flurry of decorating, gift purchasing and wrapping ...... with some trying to figure out how to deal with their liberal relatives over the holidays.
..... some people could hardly eat and lost weight ..... others sought consolation in food and gained pounds. It truly consumed us. But FR saved our sanity. Back then there was hardly any of this back-biting and quarrelling ....... we were united against a common enemy ..... and, boy, was that enemy common and debased!
I wish you had been here then .... it certainly made that time more bearable!
But we're glad you've finally come home!

Well, my goodness, you and illstillbe have certainly gotten my patriotic blood stirring tonight! illstillbe, such a wondrous imagination you have. Your essay would make for a very lively and thought provoking thread and could very well knock some sense into some who need a good knocking into.
