Mom,' 'dad,' banned; now 600,000 students could go
WorldNetdaily.com ^ | February 07, 2008 | Bob Unruh

Only months after a new state law effectively banned "mom" and "dad" from California schools, a total of 600,000 students could follow because of what has been described as the "repudiation" of 2,000 years of Christian morality, according to leaders of a new campaign assembling education alternatives.

The campaign is called California Exodus, and is being headed by Ron Gleason, pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church in Yorba Linda, who said while the country excels in social, economic, scientific and political accomplishments, it "gets low grades on the education of its children."

The issue is the state legislature's adoption of Senate Bill 777, which requires only positive portrayals of homosexual, bisexual, transgender and other alternative lifestyle choices.

"First, the law allowed public schools to voluntarily promote homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality. Then, the law required public schools to accept homosexual, bisexual, and transsexual teachers as role models for impressionable children. Now, the law has been changed to effectively require the positive portrayal of homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality to six million children in California government-controlled schools," said Randy Thomasson, chief of the Campaign for Children and Families and one of those who originally called for an abandonment of public schools.

"To rescue their children, loving parents need to find an alternative to government schools, and every church needs to make it a priority to help parents be in charge of their children's education again," he said.

He has condemned public school districts as "no longer a safe emotional environment for children" under the new law, signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, that will introduce children as young as kindergarten to the homosexuality and other alternative lifestyle choices.

No, that is appropriately on-topic, given that the general conversation among conservatives for the past few weeks has been the importance of the conservative base remaining true to their beliefs and not diluting their core principles for the sake of a party-win.

It was precisely because we have been so compromising over the past 16 years that we are in the mess that we are in (the Republican party openly marginalizing its base and not only drifting toward but swimming to the left).

We’re taking our kids out next year.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

In the kindest possible manner I ask the following:

Why not today?
Is there an urgent reason you must keep them in school until June?

Think of it this way:

How many months have your children lived? What percentage of their lives is 5 months? The younger the children the greater is that percentage, and the greater the influence of the government madrassas your children.

For example: For a 5 year old, 5 months is close to 1/10th or 10% of his life.

Very respectfully,
Wintertime

I suggest that we ban the use of the word “tax,” especially by the legislature. I’m offended by it.

By the way, the “Public Education” Ping seems to be in the death rattle stage.

WTF? When I went to grade school 30 years ago, they only taught us the three R's.

Can anyone tell me EXACTLY how do you explain homosexuality to the little kids?

I do too.

599,999 have parents who are utterly addicted to the free babysitting.

599,999 have naive parents who think they can deprogram their children in their spare time.

599.999 of these kids have ministers who scared to death of offending the armies of government teachers, government school employees, and others sucking the government school teat, who are filling the pews of their mega and micro churches.

And,,,599,999 of these kids have armies of Christian teachers who will **cheerfully and fully** cooperate with this sinful agenda in exchange for a paycheck and a pension.

599,999 of these kids have Christian teachers who will teach the kids that Christians are sneaking and sly by trying to sneakily spread a little “salt and light” around while their bosses aren’t looking! ( What an example of “Christian” living they are!)

If our school system is so bad why do Oriental and Indian students do so well when they go through it? A major part of the problem isn’t really the school systems as much as it is the role that parents play in their child’s education. If you only have a mother that didn’t finish school and lives on public assistance and a father you never met, it’s hard to produce a kid that’s going to excel.

I’m sure there are some who will find this latest outrage so outrageous that they will choose other education for their children. However, it’s not as if this came out of the blue. Whether one’s main issue is academic quality, social environment, religious freedom, or moral decency, it’s been under attack by the state for years.

The boiling-frog analogy comes to mind: most will just sit there and cook.

From time to time, they DO talk about it, but then get flooded with tons and tons of Email about thier “Hate” and “Bigotry”.

Or how they are pushing the agenda of the “American Taliban”.

The Demonization and marginalization of Christians is nearly complete. When a Major Organization like the Southern Poverty LAw Center can get by with labeling Christians as a “HATE-GROUP”, without penalty, or even much of a rucus from the media, we’re in trouble...

All well and good to just dump it all on the teachers. Whether you like it or not the public schools got to where they are because of school boards elected by parents and parents who do absolutely nothing to further their kids education. These stupid ass rules get passed because people don’t have any idea what is going on in their schools. Californians are allowing this to happen, maybe even encouraging it. They are getting what they voted for, socialism.

I listen to both of them, nearly 6 hours a day at work. I never hear anything more than a passing comment about it. But I suspect you’re correct, they are getting pressure from someone.

This thread is NOT about academic achievement. I suggest that you re-read the article and the posts.

All the children ( of every racial and cultural background) will have their opinions on sexuality, (and opinion of Christians and other religious people who oppose the homosexual lifestyle)shaped by the government madrassas ( mis-named "schools")

Are you a government teacher, an education student, your parents government teachers, or does money come into your household by way of the education-industrial complex? ( Just curious)

They know all about Dr. King, but nothing about George Washington or Abe Lincoln.

My daughter is one of the lucky ones in a Texas school (Garland ISD) who has an American history teacher that teaches all about George and Abe and Andrew and Patrick and Ben and the Johns, Samuels, Thomases, etc. It's her favorite class.
She's been learning alot about government in this election year and is making the best grades in class. She tells me many times the teacher asks questions particularly about what's going on in the world and current events related to the election and she's the only one who knows the answer.

She's probably the only kid who has Free Republic on her IE home page, too. [grin]
