Some think politics is monotone and parliamentary sittings are boring. However, real beauties can sometimes be in these seats. We have compiled a list of ten successful women who rule the world and their beauty is breath taking.

1. It was a bit difficult to decide which beauty to assign to the first place, we will start with exotic Japanese Yuri Fujikawa, who was named the most beautiful politician in the world by bloggers. She is a representative of the city Hachinoha and was recently involved in a sex scandal, when she was spotted entering a hotel embraced by a married man. However, nobody held it against her and he is famous for being too beautiful for politics.

2. Mara Carfagna came in second, who caused quite a stir a year ago, when she became Italian minister. This former hostess, a law graduate, managed to win over Silvio Berlusconi`s confidence and seriously emerged herself in politics. However, her climb up the political ladder was not clean. The media reported she was Barlusconi`s mistress, which she seriously denied.

3. Tania Derveaux, Belgian politician and member of the NEE party (protesting youth group which offers alternatives to dissatisfied voters), is one of those breath-taking women Apart from her looks, she is also famous for controversial outbursts. During the 2007 run for the Senate, she was featured on posters absolutely naked with angel wings on her back. But this is not all. While other politicians presented their economic programmes, Tania`s poster read “I`ll blow you 40,000 times”. This was a parody of various promises her rivals made.

4. Although she came in fourth, Alina Kabaeva is just as pretty as the women at the top of the list. The selection was subjective, of course, and we do not underestimate anyone`s taste. Alina is a member of the United Russia Party, famous for being the most successful Russian gymnast. She was involved in a scandal last year, when the media claimed she was engaged to Vladimir Putin.

5. Luciana Leon was named the most beautiful female politician several times and is a member of the Peruvian Aprista Party. She is the youngest Congress member.

6. We have decided to include Angelina Sondakh, former Miss Indonesia, who entered politics in 2004. Alaska has Sarah Palin, USA has Hillary Clinton, Pakistan had Benazir Bhutto, while Indonesia has Angelina Sondakh, smart and beautiful, blogs claim.

7. Ruby Dhalla is a Canadian politician and member of the Liberal Party. She was born in an Indian immigrant family and was interested in politics ever since childhood. Her beauty was widely recognised, as several magazines included her in their top 10 most beautiful female politicians list.

8. When we talk about female politics and beauty, former U.S. vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has to be mentioned. Although many judged her for her reckless statements, nobody can deny her charm and beauty.

9. Apart from being successful in politics, Ukraine`s Premier Yulia Tymoshenko has the kind of smile that opens doors. According to Forbes, she was named third most successful women in the world and is one of the wealthiest persons in her country.

10. Segolene Royal, former French presidential candidate is our number 10. She is a mother of four and still looks good at 56. She was born in a military base in Dakar and is famous for severe criticism. After the American elections, she told President Barack Obama that she knows how he copied certain parts of her 2007 campaign.

You have been trolling this thread and dragging discussions from other threads into this one.

This is demonstrably untrue. I'd like an apology for the false accusation.

I'd like to know why this moderator is demonstrating a personal grudge against me, which clearly has nothing to do with anything that has occurred on this thread, or openly on any thread that I know of.

I'd like to know why I have repeatedly been logged out, starting when this moderator took an interest in me.

Yeah, 10-nudie women get lots of respect because they are so serious.

I'm not even going to dignify that remark with an answer.

"Nonsense. Martinez is resigning, and no one is saying that about him. Bob Dole resigned during a campaign, because he was serious."

Dole was a decorated war hero, served in the house for six years, and the senate for close to 27. While in the senate he was the majority leader. If he chose to retire early in order to run a barnstorming campaign then that is completely understandable.

With regard to Martinez, he has made no plans regarding his future except to spend more time with his family. Whether or not there is some hidden story behind his early resignation, or whether it is a smart or dumb move is impossible to determine at this time.

Sarah Palin has not completed a single term as governor. If Sarah Palin were a Democrat and claimed that the last 1-1/2 years of her first term were "a lame duck" session we would all snicker. The term "lame duck session" can be stretched, but only so far. Normally it is reserved for that part of a second term after a November vote in which the party in office loses.

She definitely is smart, energetic and capable and would make a great two-term governor of Alaska. She is a bit of a populist which I personally find attractive, and I believe works well with independents and moderates of both parties.

However, if she is planning on running for national office then I'm afraid she really should have taken whatever the liberal scumbags threw at her and stayed in office.

Personally I don't think her comments with regard to Obama's healthcare plan and "death panels" was a very serious comment. It is one thing to point to the examples of Western Europe where seniors die as a result of long waits for proper care. It is another thing to invoke horror stories of bureaucrats sentencing individual pensioners to death.

I know that FReepers love incendiary red-meat language. But Sarah should know that she already has the vast red-meat gun-totin' rightwing conspiracy on her side. If she is going to be successful on the national stage she needs to appeal to the independents and moderates who are rightfully frightened at the leftward turn of our nation under Obama.

Palin already has the populist credentials. She shouldn't spend any time pandering to her solid rightwing base if she really is serious.

I was late again... ;')

Segolene is #10, I don't think I'd have her on the list at all. :')

The sex talk brings Sarah Palin down and steals her authority. She can’t be a serious candidate.

I always thought Mary Landrieu was a chubby kind of cute, but it looks like the FR standard is stratospherically supermodelesque so I’ll refrain from that comment (oops!)

Thank you for your thoughtful response. My reference to Dole, Martinez and Gramm was simply to illustrate the point that resignation in and of itself does not equal "non-serious."

You bring up a number of important points that are worth discussing, and I think a lot depends on what we mean by the word "serious."

I do believe that the rules of the game have changed a bit, and that we will not be able to change them back until we adapt to the new environment. Quite arguably, Barack Obama was as nearly a non-serious and substance-free candidate as possible. His campaign did nothing more than wink at the Obama girl ads, which were easily a net plus for his campaign. I don't believe that after Obama, it is any longer necessary to have a long and established career in high office. Obama's number are down, but not because he is inexperienced, but because he is reckless and deceptive.

I can think of two scenarios that would call for Palin to keep with her populist red meat tone. The first scenario is to not run for office, but to organize "her people" and make them a solid voting bloc in their own right that she can fire up and deliver, both in elections, and after, through putting pressure on individual races. She is also willing to support the not very good (Gov. Perry) against the bad (Kay Bailey Hutchison) when necessary.

The second scenario would be trying to force a party realignment. I hope she doesn't try to use a third party to do that. Third parties have been reduced to the weapon of choice for "One Hit Wonders" (Ventura, Weicker), REALLY rich folks (Ross Perot, Bloomberg), and personal egos (Nader). However, if she can help realign the Republican party to attract regular union guys who DON'T follow their leadership, the disaffected working class who aren't Union and blue dog clingers, and a few "good government" types and moderates who want to give a woman a shot, then we can afford to lose Peggy Noonan, David Frum, Kathy Parker, Christine Todd Whitman for GOOD, and their ilk. The coffers will suffer, but voters trump coffers any day.

In normal times, I would rather see Gov. Palin as Secretary of Energy or HHS than President. These are not normal times. Sometimes we need a Joan of Arc, because General Patton is available.

Sarah is such a beautiful woman to look at. She has an inner beauty that shines through. I don't care how envious someone is, there is no excuse for some of the nasty remarks about her being "nudie" and "not serious." Thank you for standing up for Sarah's honor.

Two minor points:

1. I tried to make a distinction between Palin's "populist" governance and her "red meat" speeches. I do think that Palin will be more successful if she explains what her policies were in Alaska and how she would enact similar policies nationwide if given a chance.

I do not think she will be as successful if she continues to make over-the-top "red meat" comments regarding Obama's healthcare plan when merely describing what is clearly there will give enough people the willies.

2. The American People may be willing to vote for rank amateurs as president, e.g. Obama, but that doesn't mean it makes sense for conservatives and thoughtful independents to believe that is a good idea. Corporations tend to hire people with lots of experience to run their complicated operations. Why shouldn't we expect the same for someone running one of the largest bureaucracies in the world?

I realize that those who have significant experience also tend to be beholden to old ideas and lobbyists, but there is no substitute for experience in a chaotic world like the one we are currently stuck in.
