I disagree with the notion that there is some hidden secret control mechanism that the GOP establishment can use to control the selection of the nominee. The delegate selection process is what it is. It’s ridiculous to claim that Bachmann and Cain are puppets of Rove. It’s strange that on the one hand some Palin supporters are saying that when she’s in she will dominate and the contest will be over, and other saying she will need to go third party. There ster apparently more subtle forms of PDS out there than the one Chris Matthews has.

When the Republicans replaced the Whigs in 1860, because the Whig party was simply too corrupt to survive any longer, a lot of the best former Whigs came over and joined the new Republican Party. I imagine that would happen again. If the Roves and other insiders refuse to let reform into the party, then a lot of the best Republicans would probably come over, sooner or later, to the new party.

Alaska law governing the statute of limitations ethics violations complaints (39.52.310 - H) states this...

"A violation of this chapter may be investigated within two years after discovery of the alleged violation."

IOW...if an "alleged violation" were to be discovered today then the clock limiting a complaint filing would start ticking today and would keep ticking for two years from today.

There are 24,000 pages of official e-mails being disected as we speak. It is not hard to imagine that the opposition will find more than a few that could meet the very low bar for "alleged" ethical violation.

The law further states that once the complant has been "accepted" by the AG, the subject may be required to provide a written response within twenty days. It further states that a failure to so respond may be considered as an admission of the alleged violation.

A steady trickle of one or two complaints (or more) per week during September and October would de-rail a Palin campaign and cost her significant legal fees.

Palin must know this. The opposition surely does.

The opposition media would have a field day.

So do you think Palin cannot win the primary, but it's ok if she deliberately throws the election to Obama by running as a "third party"? If this woman is so popular and so powerful, she needs to get in the primary and win.

I have my own plan to stop Romney and that is for everyone to get behind Rick Perry. I know he's not perfect but by golly, I just don't expect Jesus to show up and run.

Personally, I do not think Palin has a chance either in the primary or as a "third party" but let's find out. Get her in the race.

Mitt Romney already has such a huge advantage that it's probably to late.

I don't see this. Just yesterday I was talking to a politically active relative in the most Republican county in Iowa and he asked me if I knew of anyone supporting Romney. I told him I don't and he said neither does he, so where is all this Romney support? Romney is even skipping the Iowa Straw Poll which says he doesn't think he can win it.

Get Palin in here--it's her's to lose.
