Gun control measures must be taken (Ban semi-auto guns & large capacity magazine clips?)
The Journal Tribune ^ | December 27, 2012 | Bernard Featherman

Gun violence continues to cause horrific tragedies in America. The latest incident, at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut on Dec. 14, illustrates how the occurrence of such a terrible tragedy can spread heartbreak throughout the nation.

Whose children will not feel frightened about going to school, after learning of this disaster? Which children will not have occasional nightmares now? Something needs to change, to reduce the likelihood of more of these incidents.

In Connecticut, a 20-year-old troubled youth killed 20 young children and five members of the school staff, after killing his mother with her own guns. It was a planned and deliberate school shooting. Such incidents may well continue nationwide, even though very few school communities have been touched by gun shooting or killings in the past. Yet, few schools have developed safety practices to prevent such occurrences.

Disasters can happen anywhere. On the same Dec. 14, at a school in China, 20 young students were stabbed by a knife-wielding man, but fortunately the students were only injured, not killed. Because he used a knife instead of an assault gun, he was able to be stopped before people died.

Across the globe, people have been attacked with guns or knives, by angry or mentally disturbed persons. The NRA is right in saying that guns don’t kill, people do. But it is wrong in denying that more deaths occur when the attacker has assault type weapons. What we need right now is reasonable discussion and reasonable compromise...

“but have spilled over into just plain confiscation of any opportunity.”

Right about that for sure. Even DUIs and they look to impound the car. Beyond that roving bands of TSA thugs out on the highway, something akin to the Sheriff of Nottingham,
TSA at the airport doing virtual strip searches, authority to jail CITIZENS without court, interception of communications without warrant, spying on mail without court order, taxing for health care, condemnation of property for ANY reason, refusing to certify individuals for office (Oturd), funding without budgets....on and on. Most all of these examples began after 1995 or so. Now there is a bill being proposed to ban almost all firearms.

I wonder when the sheeple will wake up. Most of the Bill of Rights are gone, one is teetering, and the only one yet to be attacked is the one about quartering soldiers so i guess that will be next, we will each have to put a block watcher in our residences to keep an eye on things. Welcome to Nazi Germany on steroids.

None of the gun control measures they are pushing have ever been shown to stop, deter or in anyway have a positive effect on crime reduction. In fact they have proven to increase violent crime where they are tried. Thus, their purported basis for pushing gun control is a fraud.

It is also of note that the ones who are pushing these gun control measures idolize Stalin’s Russia, China, similar other oppressive governments. Nor have they, the gun banners, ever refuted the numerous calls from their side (Ayers for example) to kill their opposition. They also repeatedly show a strong violence streak with a gleeful view of it happening to their political opposition.

Looking at the proposed gun bans/restrictions in that light, noting the specifics of what they want in the this latest bill - the purpose is to make it impossible to defend against them when they go for the final push to transform America.

IMHO, any traditional American who complies with their agenda of weakening/disarming the free people of America is likely committing suicide. At minimum they are allowing Stalin’s Russia to be recreated for their children to live in - complete with the misery, oppression and starvation.

The only reason for them to try to disarm/weaken our ability to defend ourselves from them is to have a better chance of imprisoning or killing us for resisting them.

It is happening here.

Lessee here...

It illegal to murder...(what, 20+ counts?)
It is illegal to carry a gun on school grounds...
It is illegal for a felon to posses a gun...
It is illegal to steal (It was mom’s gun)...
(Feel free to add to this list)

Answer, let’s add another stupid libtard law to the books that only the law abiding will obey and be restricted by.

If they were interested in an honest discussion, they would talk about the fact that the vast majority of murders are committed by blacks and hispanics and the fact that assault rifles are, statistically speaking, almost never used to commit murder. then they would be forced to conclude that taking assault weapons away from law abiding and, typically, white people will do nothing to address the murder problem in America so they, of course, don’t really want an honest discussion about gun control- they just want us to STFU and go along. Sorry libs. It’s not happening. So FU and the monkey you rode in on.

Baloney.

We have grieved for two weeks. Constantly.

The shooter is dead.

Do nothing. Move on, and preserve American freedom.

There will be occasional times when we must grieve.

But we must not bend.

Ever.

No! That sentence should read:

“Decent, law-abiding Americans will disregard this new law if passed, and they would be fools not to do so.”

Holding on to the means of self defense from either criminal individuals or a criminal regime, is NOT a crime!

I am really getting tired of the Liberals definition or lack of of exactly what an assault weapon is. I have just finished building a custom Spikes Tactical AR-15, not a cheap weapon. Also in my gun safe is an 8mm German Mauser that shoots 7.92 x 57mm 178 grain AP rounds. I also have the stripper clips for it so I can reload the 5 rounds very quickly. If I wanted to I could do far more damage with the 5 round Mauser than with my 30 round AR. The Mauser could probably stop a semi with one or two shots to the engine block. I have shot through an engine block before going through both fenders and I was unable to locate the round after. The Mauser could easily take down numerous people with one round if they were lined up.

I an almost 50 and grew up around guns and never once have I felt the desire to shoot any person unlike what the Libs would believe.

I notice their "reasonable discussion" does not include allowing comments on the article.

Look, people, this is simple: one of two things will happen: nothing, or war.

On the one hand, the Left probably won't get what it wants on gun control (Obama's "Blue Ribbon Commission" will be ignored just like the "Deficit Commission"), but that doesn't keep them from screaming into their echo chamber. They will keep publishing ignorant editorials like this, but no gun control legislation will be passed at the Federal level.

And, if they get what they want at the Federal level -- the Feinstein bill -- I will resist, and I pray God, millions of other patriotic Americans will resist, too. This time, it will be confiscation, and we will resist. That resistance will necessarily escalate into a civil war.

What we need right now is reasonable discussion and reasonable compromise...

Hey, here's a discussion:

Come for my guns and this shit is ON.

Is that reasonable enough for you to get your little Marxist mind around the concept?

F you and F your compromise.

“Whose children will not feel frightened about going to school, after learning of this disaster? Which children will not have occasional nightmares now?”

I kinda wondered about this myself. It was disturbing to me to see parents carrying there 5year old and younger children to these memorials and “vigils” for the victims of this horrible crime. The victims weren’t protected. At least the children who weren’t killed could be. But no, mom has to drag the kids out to see what a horrible and dangerous world it is.

I know some here will differ.

THE REAL GOAL OF GUN REGISTRATION.

Nelson T. ‘Pete’ Shields
Founder of Handgun Control, Inc.

“I’m convinced that we have to have federal legislation to build on. We’re going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily — given the political realities — going to be very modest. Of course, it’s true that politicians will then go home and say, ‘This is a great law. The problem is solved.’ And it’s also true that such statements will tend to defuse the gun-control issue for a time.

So then we’ll have to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen that law, and maybe again and again. Right now, though, we’d be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice. Our ultimate goal — total control of handguns in the United States — is going to take time. My estimate is from seven to ten years.

The problem is to slow down the increasing number of handguns sold in this country. The second problem is to get them all registered. And the final problem is to make the possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition — except for the military, policemen, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors — totally illegal.”

-Pete Shields, Chairman and founder, Handgun Control Inc., “A Reporter At Large: Handguns,” The New Yorker, July 26, 1976, 57-58

From the he article;

***”... to re-instate bans on the rapid fire, semi-automatic “assault weapons,” a prior law that expired in 2004.”***

It has always been about handguns. Assault rifles is just a decoy to try and get their anti-gun foot in the door.

Once they get a ban on AWs then they will use the same reasons to go after handguns.

John Kennedy killed with a 5 shot bolt action rifle.

Bobby Kennedy killed with a .22 Iver Johnson Cadet revolver.

George Wallace wounded with a 5 shot Charter Arms .38spl.

Gerald Ford attacked with a 7 shot 1911 semi auto.

Edmond OK post office with two National Guard 7 shot 1911 pistols.

Ronald Reagan and Jim Brady shot with an RG-14 .22 pistol.

Ronald Gene Simmons killed his family and neighbors...H&R .22 revolver and a Ruger .22 revolver. Also used a strangling cord and two hammers.

What do they all have in common? NONE over 9 rounds, yet after each one came a cry of panic to ban them.

DON’T FALL FOR THE BAIT!

The WILL make it a crime, but that doesn’t mean you have to raise your hand and offer them up. They’ll have a tough time getting all the 4473s, I think, and they have no earthly idea about private sales.

0bammy’s home turf of chicago just marked its 500th murder of the year.
We might ask:
How many of the weapons used would not be covered by the proposal?

How many of the perpetrators were already known to the police?

What is the ‘cultural background’ of the perps?
