One of the most frustrating things for bloggers to do on a regular basis is to explain to non-bloggers what blogs are, why they are important. All to many times when a blogger says to a non-blog - "Have you read my blog?" - the only thing they get in return is a glazed over look.

Events in this last election did infact change some of that - BLOGS got some air-time because of the way they were able to factcheck the mainstream media into oblivion.

Some would even argue that had it not been for blogs - Dan Rather might not be retiring as soon as he was eventually forced to...

So what will be the all important bridge from the world of the blogosphere to the rest of the universe? How can a blogger - once and for all settle the curious questions of the origins of blogs and why they should be recognized in the future of all things media?

Enter what I believe will be one of the biggest books of 2005 - BLOG - by Hugh Hewitt.

"Blog" is short for "Web log" - an online site with time-dated postings, maintained by one or more posters, that features links and commentary. But that is like saying a car is a means of transportation featuring four wheels. Millions are changing their habits when it comes to information acquisition, and the blogosphere has appeared so suddenly as to surprise even the most sophisticated of analysts. In Blog, best-selling author Hugh Hewitt helps you catch up with and get ahead of this phenomenon.

Up until now no influential blogger has written a definitive book about this phenomenon. Since Hugh Hewitt's blog site - HughHewitt - was launched in early 2002, more than 10 million people have visited this site. Why does this visitor traffic matter? People's attentions are up for grabs. If you depend upon the steady trust of others, suddenly you have an audience waiting to hear from you. The race is underway, though, to gain mindspace and to be part of the blogosphere readers' habits and to position yourself as well as your business or organization at the forefront of this information movement.

So what am I telling you this for? Because whether you ARE a blogger or wish to be, whether you are thoroughly knowledgable concerning blogs or a novice finding your way, whatever the case - you need to read this book.

I have a blog. I imagine people reading it and thinking I'm really weird just like people do in real life.

Ever since the Rather fake documents fiasco, I have been expecting a series of soft attacks against the blogosphere. These "soft " attacks will come from the MSM. They will call into question the reliability, accuracy, credentials and propriety of blogs. I think we'll see a campaign to create in the public mindset that blogs are unreliable sources.
Something similar to their campaign against Matt Drudge after his DRUDGE REPORT started taking off.
