WASHINGTON, March 23 /Christian Wire Service/ -- The 11th Hour Coalition to Save Terri Schiavo's Life will hold simultaneous press conferences -- Wednesday, March 23 -- at 12 noon in Washington, D.C., and Tallahassee, Fla.

This ad hoc partnership of religious and political organizations -- which will gather in front of the White House and the Florida governor's mansion -- will call on President George W. Bush and Gov. Jeb Bush to use their executive powers to protect Terri Schiavo from starvation.

"There are two people in the United States who can save Terri Schiavo's life right now. The president of the United States and the governor of Florida have the authority to use the police services at their disposal to take Terri into protective custody, restore her food and hydration, and arrest anyone who would interfere," said Dr. Paul Schenck, executive director of the National Pro-Life Action Center on Capitol Hill. "For the sake of Terri's life, we cannot afford to wait while the courts dither over jurisdiction."

I do believe Jeb could appoint a special prosecutor to take over the case. The tube would be put back in and those who would kill her would be prosecuted. With Felos and M Schiavo at the top of the list for conspiracy to murder.

Wrong analogy. In that case, the troops were there to support a court order. The court order in this case supports Michael Schiavo's argument. Therefore, the troops would be supporting Michael Schiavo.

Arrest those who are complying with the state and federal courts? I don't think so. There would be no grounds, no charge. However, there would be numerous felonies involved in ignoring these courts. Those guarding Terri could legally use lethal force against anyone entering the hospice with the intent of violating the court order(s).

Congress unwittingly sealed this one in stone. When despite iffy constiutional authority, congress remanded this to the federal courts, only to have the federal courts agree not with congress, but the state courts, it was over.

Why do you think they gave the executive branch police power? To avoid Judicial tryanny.

The way to avoid judicial tyranny is to impeach judges who overstep their constitutional authority. Ultimately, the fault is on the electorate, which fails to elect a Congress willing to do this. We get the kind of government we want, or that we settle for.

Jeb Bush may have the authority but he would be risking his governorship, as I believe the Dems in the Florida legislature would have him impeached.

If he did get impeached the voters will put him back in office and vote the other out. You can take that to the bank.

Well, you have a point about Michael Schiavo. However, calling fellow Freeper's "Members of a death cult" or "simple minded twits who want to ignore the law" is not helpful for either side.

I agree. Besides which, I think ad hominems don't do much to convince anyone of anything. But I'm just fine with showing some emotion, some anger, some disgust, some love. As long as it's channelled in a constructive and healthy fashion, emotion can and should be put to good use. It can be a heck of a motivator.

"Moral authority" does not authorize executive action. Legislation enabling the action does.

Unfortunately, Judge Greer's decisions were following Florida state laws. His decision was reviewed by more than a few courts and now even reviewed unconstitutionally by a federal court. It may not follow what we believe to be moral law but it is still the rule of law. Not an opinion, but the rule of law. The order was not unconstitutional and the numerous appeals courts have found that to be the case.

I realize many may disagree with the courts' decisions but you can't just call out the troops when you disagree and start arresting people.

It is truly frightening. I have goosebumps. Mob rule, throw out the rule of law. Take your little cowardly behind elsewhere. You ought to be frightened what will happen in our nation if she dies. She is not just a single person. She represents all the weak of our society. Yes, there are many more like her, but in God's Providence, she is their representative. He is watching and He is not silent.

Popular uprisings or Shows of Force by Governments are not inherently evil or dangerous. In the Ukraine and in Lebanon these are being used for good.
