Jay Severin's luck may have finally run out in Boston.
After years of questions about the WTKK-FM talk host's wild boasts and other deceptive behavior, the Boston Globe's Scot Lehigh examined his most outrageous: Severin's claim to be a Pulitzer Prize winner.
The result was a devastating piece that should shatter sleazy Severin's talk radio future.
His academic background, place of residence, even his real name, have all apparently been faked.
And the timing couldn't be worse for the self-described "libertarian/libertine" host, more on that in a moment.
The Radio Equalizer raised other questions about Severin's claims in this July piece written after his sudden departure from MSNBC's "The Situation With Tucker Carlson". NBC insiders had claimed to cable news website TVNewser that Severin's bizarre behind-the-scenes behavior was disruptive.
Lehigh examined Severin's recent on-air assertion he won a Pulitzer for "online journalism" (were such an award to exist). From his report:

Didn't he sit in for Boortz a few days ago?
Pretty sure he did.
YES, THAT'S HIM
Is he really a democrat too?
I listened for about 5 minutes then moved on.
I listened to him for a few years after he first started. It was about the only thing I miss about living in the boston area. He is a racist pig, though.
I listened to Severin for a while during the Clinton fiasco... but during the past year he's been even more pompous than Bill O'Reilly.
I no longer listen to his show... Too grating, and he's just a sissy boy.

Yes he did....and I liked him.
I like him too, even though he has a big ego and, it seems, is prone to....."exagerration." (trying to be charitable.)
But name a radio (or TV talk show) host that isn't: Limbaugh has an ego bigger than even Larry King, O'Reilly is off the charts, Hannity talks very loudly because he is really quite dumb..... Maybe Scarborough is an exception??
Anyway, Jay is provocative. He sees Hillary as the conniving socialist that she is, he denounced Kerry's fraud of an election campaign, he bashes Bush on his free-spending ways. He opposes "gay" marriage (which, to Jay's credit, he insists upon calling "homosexual marriage".) All in all, a pretty good guy in my book.
If he lied about his background, though, he needs to do some serious mea culpas.
Jim Severino, heard as "Jay Severin" on WTKK, got a new job the other day--doing a weekday talk show for Infinity, "Jay Severin Has Issues", which will start in January. No word yet on what Boston station will carry it, though; Severin's contract with Greater Media (WTKK) expires at the end
of the year. WTKK is the affiliate for Westwood One/Infinity shows, but would WBZ (CBS/Infinity) run Severin?
Or maybe even WRKO? (They could tape delay him and put him on at 10 pm after live Howie Carr and slightly tape-delayed Savage.)
Meanwhile, the Boston Globe's Scot Lehigh attacked Severin for a "phony Pulitzer" claim in his Friday column and Severin was made fun of by Howie Carr that day.
Severin himself was absent from his show Friday (live Hannity aired instead). Surely he could talk about all this today, right? Nope--Hannity's on again.
Hmm.
Dear gadget, you seem like a smart guy and handsome too, if I do say so my own self. So, tell me, if you have a moment, how do they drag the comment to which they are responding, to the forefront of the post? I wish I knew how to do that.
They can teach you that in the community college. ;-)
AaaHa
The professors there can also enlighten people about the truly evil nature of "conservatives." Consistency will run thru all their threads...
