Trojan Horse? [Murtha medal issue a trap]
Mudville Gazette ^ | Jan 14th, 2006 | Greyhawk

Posted on 01/14/2006 11:27:23 AM PST by Fenris6

"Former representative Don Bailey (D-Pa.) has apparently broken ranks and attacked the war record of fellow Democrat John Murtha"

"...The story was picked up by CNS, a conservative web site. In their report they also cited excerpts from The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in 2002, and several quotes from political opponents in the 1990s that raised questions regarding Murtha's record."

"...But the quote used above comes from a Washington Post article that confirms many of the accusations in the CNS story. But before Murtha's political opponents begin jumping for joy, they had best take a close look at how the Post is spinning the story of blue on blue warfare:..."

"Beware of Greeks bearing gifts, they say. The Post dutifully notes the actual source of the accusations (Bailey) a few paragraphs into the piece, but leaves no doubt where this story is headed: House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said, "The Swift Boat-like attacks on an American hero, Congressman Jack Murtha, are despicable and have no place in politics."

"Let me be clear: attacks on Murtha's Vietnam record are pointless. Murtha's latest statements against the success of US troops in Iraq speak for themselves; his current behavior renders his past insignificant. Democrats, grown tired of waiting for an attack on Murtha's war record from the Right, have created their own. He's painted as a victim now - of "right wing chickenhawk" contempt for real war heroes. But those serious about standing up to the current John Murtha would be well advised to let his fellow Democrats and the mainstream media keep this war "unilateral".

No self respecting veteran of ANY war could ever possibly say the kind of crap the Murtha has spewwed forth with. This is ESPECIALLY true with a honest to goodness veteran of the Vietnam War, since they would know first-hand just what a deleterious effect these kind of pronouncements could and would have on the morale of the troops in the field.

It is more than plain and obvious that Murtha is doing this for political gain, thus making him beneath contempt.

I say this as a veteran of the U.S.M.C. having served from 1969 - 1971.

I agree. Let's just stick to the facts, and leave the mud slinging to the Democrats.

Everyone advances to the point of their own incompetence. If you dont know when to get out of the game, the sharks attack and its over in an instant, regardless of any or all the good you may have done.

...also...

PX warriors are frauds at best. Liars.

To allow a liar to hold a position of public trust in the Congress of the United States is a travesty. I cant understand why anyone would encourage complacency in this issue. (Murtha, Kennedy, Conyers, Kerry, Barney Fag, etc, etc, etc..)

Kerry and Murtha. Birds of a feather using embellished military awards to gain political advantage.

The truth is all I want. ..and Im not afraid of any left wing liberal spin. If you parade your awards around to gain political clout then you have to be ready to explain them when you are called on the carpet.

Why is it so offensive to a liberal to be asked to show some integrity?

The dems are very bad at poker and cant take it when their bluffs are called.

Throw the bums out!

Completely disagree with this: TRUE conservatives, whether they are Independents, Republicans or Democrats (like Zell Miller etc) always put the troops 1st and foremost.

True conservatives put the mission of victory in every phase of the war on terror first and foremost.

"What did John Glenn do?"

Where were you during the Thompson hearings on the Communist Chinese pumping millions to the democrats? You would have thought that John Glenn was a paid defense attorney for the Red Commie bastards. John Glenn better get cremated....cause if he don't, I'm gonna piss on his traitor grave.

"Thank you for your service Howie66."

Thank you for your comments.

My only regret is that I didn't follow the lead of General H. Norman Schwartzkopff.....

After his second tour in Vietnam, he seriously considered resigning his commission as an Officer in the United States Army. He came within a blonde hair of doing so and then had this idea: Were he to do so, he would no longer be in a position to do anything about the state of the U.S. Army at that time.

At that time morale in the military was in the crapper, thanks in large part to the existing MSM and the efforts of the ilk that support "people" such as Hanoi John Kerry, Walter Cronkite, and Hanoi Jane Fonda.

General Schwartzkopff (Captain at this point of time, if I'm not mistaken) decided that by quitting the Army, he would let the real enemies of our country win. He decided to stay in.

My true regret is that I took the easy way out and left after my initial enlistment was up. Who knows what contributions I could have made had I stayed in the Corps? I was a good Marine and cared deeply for the men that I served with.

If I could only turn back the hands of time.......

I read Schwartzkopf's autobio.

I think that I like him , but I am not sure,,,, politicians get stars and all that....

You sound like someone that persons close to me might like to know.

Thanks again.

Why is it so offensive to a liberal to be asked to show some integrity?

Its not, but begs the question, why now? Why not earlier? Is it for honor or petty revenge for making Moonbat comments.

The Marine Corps taught me to shape the battlefield, pick key terrain. Fight smart. Going after Murtha's Medal Hoax[?] is falling for a feint. Instead, take him down locally when he runs again.

Zell is a REAL Democrat. There just aren't very many left.

The rest are traitorous leftists who call themselves 'progressives.' They're as phony as three dollar bills.

(And some of them sign up on FR to troll and sow dissensions among those of us who really ARE born again).

Welcome to FR, phony. May your stay here be as short as your sense of values.

Is everyone who thinks that there may be no need to pursue this about Murtha a "Move On FReeper" in your view, Tonk?

Is there no room for those of us who see a major difference in pursuing this about a has-been loser like Murtha, and a despicable traitor like Kerry who was trying to be our Commander in Chief? Who don't see the value in this, but DO see the value in exposing Kerry?

Are we all condemned under the same umbrella? Even those of us who support the troops to the point of giving our sons?

As another Freeper said recently:

"Anyone who fraudulently claims a military award defames and demeans the courage and sacrifice of those who have received those honors legitimately. They deserve to be exposed and reviled, especially if they are politicians."
