A civil rights lawyer demanded authorities investigate a roundup of hundreds of undocumented immigrants in what he called a desert dragnet based on racial profiling. In a letter to the Department of Homeland Security, attorney Luis Carrillo claimed U.S. Border Patrol agents only pulled over Mexicans in the five-day operation known as "Operation Desert Denial." More than 600 undocumented immigrants were detained from May 19 to May 24 along Interstate 40 near Barstow.
“Where are the illegal Chinese, Polish and Italian immigrants?” Carrillo demanded to know. “The fact that all the illegal immigrants detained were from Mexico is evidence of racism. We should expect a mix of detainees in rough proportion to their share of the global population. There are a billion Chinese. Is the INS saying they couldn’t catch a single one of them entering America illegally?”
Carrillo suggested that the INS be required to follow affirmative action guidelines to achieve a more balanced representation of racial and ethnic groups among future detainees.
In related news, Senator Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) is urging the House of Representatives not to repudiate a provision in the immigration reform bill that would force the U.S. to consult with Mexico before building a border fence. "To think that we would build a fence without any conversation or consultation with Mexico -- that doesn't make sense," said Durbin. “I mean, it’s their border too. An ugly fence will depress real estate values and could damage the Mexican economy. Besides, building this fence will cost a lot of money. Mexico has a high unemployment rate. Maybe we can get some cheap migrant labor to build the fence.” Durbin insisted that any fence that might be built must include “doggy doors” so wildlife can freely migrate across the border.

Im tellin ya! I actually had one of his "items" on the TXminutemen website (with a disclaimer) for about 10 minutes till I got a conformation that yes, it's a joke.
Imagine profiling Mexicans as those illegally crossing from Mexico. Where do these guys get such ideas. They should be looking at the blue-haired old ladies like they do at the airport. I heard they nailed one of those old ladies yesterday. They caught her knitting an Afgan.
Wait a minute! Even in Satire we can come up with our best ideas! We place "doggy doors" at strategic points along the border. Sound crazy? Well, let's add the provision that anything coming through has to get spayed or neutered. For health reasons of course. Viola! No more illegals carrying American babies! Not to mention, general excitment about getting here will more than likely dwindle.
