The Whole Haggard Affair
The Strenuous Life ^ | 11-3-06 | Cursor

It stinks. I'm sure that is the initial response of most people of faith and family values. However, for the secular Left it's an "ah hah!" moment of glee.

The Left is saying "ha ha" because they've caught someone who is ostensibly right wing being a hypocrite. The irony is, for the Left, hypocrisy is a way of life.

The left (and we) had better find out the facts, before making any conclusions in this.

I'm sure many on the Left would argue that if duplicity is their norm, how can they be real hypocrites?

The Haggard thing is yet another example of why Evangelicals should AVOID establishing formal or informal church related hierarchies.

Lets just ask the question...

Suppose a homosexual prostitute came to the local news station 4 days before a prominant democrat supporter of democrat candidate who was running for re-election, and he made a similar claim.

Would they ask for evidence?
Would they put it on the nightly news for 4 days straight?

If this guy did what is claimed, he should pay the price.

But the timing..and the media's willingness to run with the story on the word of a drug-using male prostitute, is unbelieveable.

One should note though..this is how the homosexual agenda is advanced. I would not be surprised if Haggard was being blackmailed to pressure Bush/et al to drop their pro-marriage activity.

"Still, it is remarkable that by sheer happenstance, an alleged indiscretion by a conservative leader remains under-wraps until the most opportune moment to spring it on an unsuspecting values conscious electorate. Why, if the accusations have any merit, did the accuser, Mike Jones (who by the way failed a hastily administered polygraph this morning) not announce his relationship with Haggard months ago? Certainly, he didn't wait until the last possible news cycle before the election to protect Haggard's flock from his apparent hypocrisy. In fact, it is likely that Jones (and his advisers) could barely contain wetting themselves in anticipation of sparing those pathetic, mind-numbed Christians the effort of voting on Tuesday. Clearly, suppressing Evangelical and practicing Catholic voter turnout has become the modus operandi of the MSM and others who desperately want to strip from America any vestige of it's bedrock values. Lock up those dense “values voters” on Election Day and leave the important issues to the elite and enlightened class!"

Don't know any of the particulars here but one thing that committed Christians all know is that we are ALL SINNERS, unworthy of our salvation. One sin is the same as the rest - gossip, envy, etc., etc., etc.

Man's (all of us being sons and daughters of Adam and Eve) sexual nature, being what it is, should come as no surprise to anyone!

Example number 2 in as many weeks of why gays should never be allowed in the military, or in positions of political power.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
From New Life Church
Colorado Springs, Colorado

Rev. Ted Haggard, Senior Pastor of New Life Church, stated today that he could "not continue to minister under the cloud created by the accusations made on Denver talk radio this morning." He, therefore, placed himself on administrative leave, pending investigation, spiritual counsel, and a decision by the church's board of overseers.

Pastor Haggard said, "I am voluntarily stepping aside from leadership so that the overseer process can be allowed to proceed with integrity. I hope to be able to discuss this matter in more detail at a later date. In the interim, I will seek both spiritual advice and guidance." Under the governing structure of New Life Church, there is a board of overseers consisting of four senior pastors of other congregations. Those overseers have authority to conduct an inquiry, to discipline the senior pastor, to remove him from his position, or to restore him to ministry.

The overseers of New Life Church are: Rev. Larry Stockstill, Senior Pastor of Bethany World Prayer Center, in Baker, Louisiana; Rev. Mark Cowart, Senior Pastor of Church For All Nations in Colorado Springs; Rev. Tim Ralph, Senior Pastor of New Covenant Fellowship in Larkspur, Colorado; and Rev. Michael Ware, Senior Pastor of Victory Church in Westminister, Colorado.

In the interim, New Life Church Associate Senior Pastor, Rev. Ross Parsley, will serve as Acting Senior Pastor of the church. Rev. Parsley has served in senior ministry positions at New Life Church for fifteen years. Rev. Parsley requested the community's compassion and prayers for the person who came forward with accusations, for the Haggard family, and for the New Life Church community. He also said, "New Life Church long ago adopted an overseer model of governance for situations just like this. People need to be patient and allow this process to unfold as it was designed to do."

Pastor Haggard also resigned today as President of the National Association of Evangelicals.

I guess we should just throw away all the Psalms David ever wrote. Yes he sinned. Even greater than Pastor Haggard.

God will prevail. He wants to purify his church. He is coming back for his Bride.

In our weakness He is strong. Yes, WE NEED GOD.

Yep.
It's easy and titilating to jump to conclusions.
And, you are right. We all sin. And, when a man is a famous as Haggard, he is in the crosshairs of every adversary who would like to see him go down. But before we judge him, let's examine our own lives, and wait to see what the pastors to whom he is accountable to will find, and do. Pray for them.

Does it really matter why?

Hypocricy is actually a GOOD thing. Hypocricy allows fallable sinners to still pay lip service to what is right, which is preferable to sinners extolling the virtues of their own sin.

Condonning sin is worse than the sin itself, so I say more hypocricy, please.

Actually, I have no idea who the guy is. One more person screwed up and got caught. That's not exactly news to me.

Maybe it would matter if I even knew him .... just a little.

"The Left is saying "ha ha" because they've caught someone who is ostensibly right wing being a hypocrite. The irony is, for the Left, hypocrisy is a way of life."

That's a great observation. Very true.

It amazes me when people lacking shame and proudly embracing immorality - so often shame Christians when they fail in anything at all.

We've got a homosexual here who finds nothing wrong with what he's doing - complaining to the world about someone else doing the same thing.

He complains this is hypocrisy. But there is nothing worse than molesting a child. And the homosexual movement is caught in rank hypocrisy by claiming they have nothing to do with pedophilia - when the horrific sin of pedophilia is more than three times more common among homosexuals than it is among heterosexuals. (That statistic comes from Yale and Harvard-connected psychiatrist Jeffrey Satinover, btw.)

Yes, let's do talk about hypocrisy!

Let's talk homosexual agenda aimed at getting inside the Boy Scouts.

Let's get it all out of the closet.
