If they do, they do. You can't do much to stop people from cutting off their nose to spite their face, even if it hurts us. All we can do is pull together and survive and not worry about the crashing economies all over the world.

And does Alan Peters have a source of his own for his assertion that Iran already has half a dozen nukes?

in a depression, the US will still survive True fact. We will complain bitterly and continue as usual, maybe cutting back on some things a little, but the emerging economies will be in flames.

Maybe I can use that old Mexican 1991 5000-peso note that I have tucked away somewhere and buy some pennies with it.

I'd probably call it an Assembly of Idiots. If Iran really does start buying oil in Euros, and that severely hurts the world economy, how are they going to acquire suddenly-scarce food and gasoline for their people? Idiots.
They'd rather have millions of fellow muslims die of starvation from lack of imported food than see America continue to succeed.

I don't believe for one minute Iran's action will have much effect on the US economy or for that matter most of the industrial nations.
For crying out loud, the world only buys so much oil from them. Unless every oil producing nation followed suit, this will have little effect.
Huge amounts of monies are made in all types of commodities produced the world over. Hell, the price of copper has gone sky high, and we don't see the US economy crashing. And believe me, huge amounts of copper go into tens of thousands of products and processes every year.
This is a poorly disguised article to further champion the need to attack Iran, and nothing more IMHO. I am not going to loose any sleep over it.

Somehow we fail to conceive the extent of lunacy Iran can turn out to destroy us. Iran's a threat - I don't know why people don't see it...

"FARS there is no way the Iranians are going to crash the US economy. If they do, they crash the world economy and theirs right along with it."
As if Iran cares if their economy gets destroyed. You might, the powerless populace might, the old timer Mullahs might but not Ahmadi-Nejad and Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi.
Alan Peters and I continue to fail to get across that your logic is not the logic of Ahmadi-Nejad and his Hojatieh Moslem sect. They would rejoice in the world crashing and Iran with it.
You have to climb out of your logical reasoning and assessment of NORMAL human emotions and goals.
You are not dealing with anything you have ever encountered so it's almost impossible for you and most Americans and even most people in general to get their minds around this.
Pol Pot killed a couple of million of his countrymen, who wore glasses, because their poor eyesight was an indicator they had read books or studied. And he did not want anyone with knowledge to be around and perhaps confront or challenge his dictatorship.
He is a sane, logical person compared to the Hojatieh sect and their desire for Armageddon and apocalyptic desires. and they have nukes. But nukes are not the threat. Unlinking oil from dollars is.

"Could also be that the sick banking system of China is about to have a major hiccup".
The huge dollar holdings may be the only incentive for China to stop opposing any harsh measures against Iran.
They have $300 BILLION oil and gas contracts of various kinds with Iran and would likely send in their troops to "maintain peace and stability in the region" (protect their investment). On the other hand if they see that the world economy will crash and drag them into a similar situation of people starving in the streets that the USA would face, they might sign onto destroying the Iranian regime.

Iran has only just started to insist on Euros or barter instead of the dollar. Unless exacerbated by a run on the dollar and a crash of our currency, it will take a bit of time for the effect to take hold.
In the meantime, we could see an ever downward value trend with some small temporary recoveries as the world tries to resist the plunge. But as I said, in the long run there is not enough money in the world to bolster the Dollar should a run on it occur. Or stop the run.

"And does Alan Peters have a source of his own for his assertion that Iran already has half a dozen nukes?"
More than one source including eyes on the ground that have verified this matter, which by the way is known to the intel community, just not publicly acknowledged.
To learn more details, go to
http://www.antimullah.com - click on the Archive Details page and read the article "Iran's Nukes".
There are apparently four operational nukes in nose cone warheads on Shahab 3 missiles, with possibly another two completed, which were being worked on.

"One of the reasons we went into Iraq was to prevent this slippery slope. "huh ?"
The claim we went in for their oil is partly true but not in a selfish manner but to prevent Saddam Husssein and Russia and Iran and perhaps eventually all of the OPEC oil producing countries to change their purchase of oil in Dollars to Euros.
Iraq with its second or third biggest oil reserves in the world, its location as a center in the war against terrorism
was a perfect spot from which to protect American interests - meaning you and me - not the oil companies.

"Count mosques in our neighborhoods"
My survey in the general area is that from about a dozen mosques in the region about two years ago there are now OVER 100. I have acquired the addresses and phone numbers of all of them. Work in progress to ID the clientele by persuasions and affiliations.
