An AP article just came across the wire detailing another gaffe by presidential hopeful Mitt Romney (R-Mass.). Apparently, while in New Hampshire, Romney was confronted by an openly gay women who was disturbed by the former governors position on gay marriage. And in challenging him, she may have unwittingly changed or re-changed or re-re-changed his position on gay rights.
There are other ways to raise kids thats fine: single moms, grandparents raising kids, gay couples raising kids. Thats the American way, to have people have their freedom of choice, he said.
Umm
what? Weve lost track now, but we thought Romney opposed gay adoption and gay marriage. We have stopped being surprised by his all-too-often position changes - even from one month to the next - but we certainly never expected him to say gay couples raising kids is the American way.
These guys are reading some BS snip from the Palmetto Scoop, and think that Romney has had a “jump the shark moment”.
Its pretty funny actually. To bad there is nothing these Mormon haters can do to stop him from becoming our next president.
You couldn't be more wrong.
Yeah, that's inspiring.
Vote Romney! He's Our Clinton!
And another thing ... Mitt Romney didn’t have to say more than ‘okay, hope that works out for you and your children’, but he went further and shared his faith in family as an institution designed by God for a the purpose Mitt explained to her. THAT is more than just a cradfty politician, it is a good man being personal where he feels s comfortable with it. He certainly wasn’t endorsing the lifestyle for raising chuildren as implied here.
Yeah, that’s the way to sell Romney to conservative’s. State he’s like Clinton. Good luck with that.
WORD!
but he said it was FINE for them to raise children (On equivilence, equivelence to Grandparents raising chilren, and single mothers). God didn’t grant them children naturally..
Look it was a difficult situation, but if he doesn’t believe in gay adoption REALLY he should have been polite yet said so to the lady.
I think that's about the nth time you've used "Mormon haters." Does that mean you "hate" folks who say anything negative about LDS beliefs? If saying anything negative is automatically "hateful," then I guess you qualify: By your own definition, you must hate those you perceive as opposed to Mormonism.
There are Mormons on FR who don’t support Mitt.
Are they Mormon haters too?
A Mormaid’s mate.
Dude....read the article!
Let me help you out since you’re so quick to judge without even reading the article, hater.
“Marriage is an institution which is designed to bring a man and woman together to raise a child and that the ideal setting for society at large is where there is a male and a female are associated with the development and nurturing a child,” Romney said.
In this situation, do we actually expect candidates to reply with "Oh, my goodness, did you say you were gay? Well, shame on you! That's just disgusting! And you shouldn't be raising kids either!"
Newsflash: candidates (except for the very marginal) do not call people with questions sinners. Let's get away from this "gotcha" game of trying to read a great deal into every stray utterance of every candidate.
And for those of you saying "Romney is toast", could we have a moratorium on calling candidates "toast" unless something on a huge scale happens? We've had threads where people have said Giuliani is toast because he said this and McCain is toast because he said that. If I combined all the "toast" postings, I could only conclude that no one will win the Republican nomination. Most of the nation just isn't paying attention to the race yet.
Full disclosure: Romney isn't my first choice either.
The only news is who is behind this? But then again, this sort of an attack is normally done with a veil of plausible deniability covering the tracks to where a direct link is impossible to substantiate.
Obviously Romney is scaring someone.
I’d like for an ACTUAL Mormon (that is also a true RR Conservative) to speak-out and tell these seminar callers from the Mitt Romney camp to SHUT UP about his faith, they don’t like him because he’s not Conservative..
You are right about the toast thing.
I haven’t used it yet so I’ll do that now.
Ron Paul is toast.
:)
Hey, keep up with the times. That was the "old" Mitt. Just as Mitt "converted" on pro-life issues, why can't he "convert" on gay parenting? I mean, after all, There are other ways to raise kids thats fine: single moms, grandparents raising kids, gay (adopted) couples raising kids. Thats the American way, to have people have their freedom of choice."
The good news is that.......IF this position doesn't work out, he can always change it tomorrow!
Apparently you and the admin Mod didnt follow the link to the boston herald article.
