I have been fully behind Fred Thompson for president, because he seemed the most viable and pretty much stood for everything I believed in. Then I started hearing more spin from the Huckabee side and considered him. Huckabee really started taking off last month, man I thought Huckabee might be a better choice than Thompson. But the more your in the limelight the more scruntity descends on you and that is what is happening to Huckabee.
Huckabees tenure as Governor of Arkansas is not very impressive. It really bothered me about him pushing for the children of Illegal Immigrants to receive free or lower rates for entry into college, and at the last GOP debate he said in good concious he could not change his mind on that I cant blame the children because their parents are Illegal thats ok, dont blame them, but dont give them special treatment either. This bothers me a lot.
Huckabee released his immigration policy today and guess what it looks pretty similar to Fred Thompsons, he released his in October.
Im a death penalty advocate and it really bothered me to learn that while Gov. of Arkansas, Huckabee commutated or pardoned more that 703 people (only 1 death penalty) thats more than his 6 surrounding neighbors combined.
It makes me wonder if old Mike might just be to sympathetic toward Illegals and to soft on Law Enforcement.
Like I said as a candidate becomes more prominent in the race the more scruntity they will receive and more revealed about them.
I want a President that will protect American borders and Citzens .Fred Thompson is back to being my Main Man

Superficially, maybe.
Difference is, Sen. Thompson isn’t lying about his immigration policy.
Fred ping!
Duncan Hunter is better than both of them.
Fredipedia: The Definitive Fred Thompson Reference
WARNING: If you wish to join, be aware that this ping list is EXTREMELY active.
Thompson speaks the truth. He is the only candidate on both sides that holds up to fact checks over and over again.
He and Hunter would be a great ticket.
FRED is the choice of WE THE PEOPLE! The MSM is trying desperately to confuse the issues and throw us off track. I’m glad to see those that are taking the time to learn the facts.
Ouch!
But true.
It’s Mike “Jimmah II” in my mind.
That will not shift or be revised, unless until victory OR the formal issue to stand down, by the Candidate.
Not a minute before.
I hate his isolationist trade policy, so he isn't my first choice. But he is certainly the only other acceptable conservative candidate running. I would be proud to support either him or Fred. Anyone else and I may sit the general election out.
Fancy ME to tell Duncan Hunter that!!??
Since I dont see "Fred" (excuse me....Thompson), leading Duncan in the delegate total, I think you have your answer.
;-)
Take it from me in Japan, there is a big difference between isolationism and reciprocal trade. (I myself practice the latter, every day of my life here).
Hunter fans should stop hitting the Fred threads to promote their cause. It’s bad form.

If you're wondering how Gov. Huckabee's hundreds of clemencies compare with neighboring states, get ready for a shocker. Huckabee leads the pack. He has issued more commutations and pardons than all of the six neighboring states combined.
Governors seldom reduce sentences in other states and almost never for murderers serving life without parole or for rapists or for habitual drunk drivers, while in Arkansas it's a regular habit with Huckabee.
Other governors use their clemency power only rarely, while Huckabee has made it routine. As we've told you before, he has issued more than 700 pardons and commutations during his eight years in office more than 137 this year alone and more than his three predecessors combined.
Here are the figures for neighboring states since 1996, when Huckabee took office (and keep in mind the population of these states is nearly 20 times ours): Louisiana 213. Mississippi 24. Missouri 79. Oklahoma 178. Tennessee 32. Texas 98 (includes 36 inmates released because they were convicted on drug charges with planted evidence).
Total: 624 vs. Huckabee's 703
Governors in neighboring states almost never grant killers clemency, while Huckabee has commuted the sentences of a dozen murderers. "That is extremely rare here," said one corrections official in a neighboring state. She recalled one case in the early 1990s when the governor commuted a killer's sentence and none since then. In Texas, we could find only one clemency case for a killer.
--snip to end--
Although Huckabee changed his mind about commuting DuMond's sentence, DuMond went free after the governor met with his parole board. DuMond is now serving a life sentence for murder in Missouri, where, the record shows, it's unlikely the governor will pardon him any time soon.
