7 miles is a long way in Honolulu. The neighborhoods that we're familiar with are Makiki, Manoa, Kaimuki, Waikiki, Tantalus, Kohala, Down Town, China Town, Kalihi and Ala Moana. Places outside are not Honolulu....they're Aiea, Pearl City and Ewa.

Check the ZIP Codes for the areas.

Then, before the month was out, he took off, leaving behind his still-teenage wife and child. He did not return for 10 years, and then only briefly.

A newspaper story on the day he left, June 22, said Obama planned a several-weeks grand tour of Mainland universities before he arrived at Harvard to study economics on a graduate faculty fellowship. The story did not mention that he had a wife and an infant son...

Obama snr had already left his wife and child in Kenya, there's the pattern. Obviously 'getting married' (if they did) meant nothing. There's no record of a marriage, maybe it was all a ruse to pacify Stanley Ann's parents?

There's a girl named Ann USA shown in this image from the period; but it doesn't look like Stanley Ann.

From the picture Ann USA definitely is not Ann Dunham, she appears to be Asian which would not be unusual in Hawaii. She is also a lot more mature than Ann Dunham at that time!

When the birth announcement first appeared I went to Google maps and placed the 6085 address in then typed for instructions on how to get to the University. As more addresses were given I noticed how far out that address was from anywhere else and it struck me as odd until I found out that Madelyn Dunham worked at the escrow dept of Bank of Hawaii and would be able to provide a safe address. Then reading about the racism in Hawaii where ads for rentals specified “No Haole” and “No Hapa” need apply it really struck me that the odds of renting a large house were slim for a Haole with a Hapa baby, especially an unmarried student!

I think you got some bogus info on that, Chief. Rentals and house purchases were and still are based on one's employment and ability to pay. Haoles, Hapas and anyone else who could put down a down payment or a deposit and make the payments were desirable.

Then there's County or State assistance; Welfare. Patsy Mink and Spark Matsunaga were big time supporters of the welfare programs as are Inouye, Akaka and Abercromby and Hirono currently. This is their platform and this is their sustaining base.

The Dunhams weren't in that situation. Mrs. Dunham could have afforded and provided for her family's needs alone. The combined financial support from her and her husband gave Barack his head start ......much to our dismay.

Also another article in the series mentions the Dunhams moving from “a large house on Kamehameha... to the apartment at 1617 S. Beretania St, located on the 10th floor of the 12 story building.” That pops a hole in David’s theory that the 6085 Kalanianaole Hwy address was the Dunham’s as Obama hmself mentions only two homes for his grandparents besides the apartment and we know from a previous article that they had lived in “a modest wooden house on University Ave near Kamanele Park”. Maybe the house on University Ave was the first home they lived in which they sold before Ann came back from Washington, buying the larger home on Kamehameha Ave so Ann and Obama could live with them?

It should be relatively simple for someone in Hawaii to lay to rest the issue of who owned the reported address on August 2, 1961 - who had record title? It would also be helpful to have names and addresses of persons who owned adjoining or neighborhood properties because you might be able to run down a person who knew and remembered what had really happened.

Obviously, my theory is that Ann did not live there until well after August 4, 1961 if at all.

At present, it looks increasingly like the legal side of this issue may not get to the point of a justiciable (actual case or controversy involving a real legal issue with parties who have standing to raise it) legal action for some time. But continued evaluation of the facts is helpful because when the issue does get to the table, they will be important.

Maybe the only remedy will be President Biden or President Palin.

Sam Slom was a Bank of Hawaii economist at the time and was married to a Korean-Chinese woman. Slom remembers looking at housing ads that openly expressed racial preferences.

The landlords’ ads read, “’No haoles,’ or ‘AJAs (Americans of Japanese ancestry) Only,’ or ‘No Japanese,’” Slom said.

Remember we are talking another time here before the enactment of the Fair Housing Act (Title VIII amended)of 1968 and also before enactment of the Food Stamp program which was only a pilot project from Feb/61 until it was made into a Federal program Aug.31/64.

Also remember that during that time Ann and Sr’s actions would have resulted in arrest and conviction in many states of the Union!

In the 1960s, when he founded the African American Association in the San Francisco Bay area, he was known as Donald Warden.

According to the Social Activism Project at the University of California at Berkley, Warden, a.k.a. Khalid al-Mansour, was the mentor of Black Panther Party founder Huey Newton and his cohort, Bobby Seale.

Newton later had a falling out with Warden, who was described in a 1994 book as “the most articulate spokesperson for black nationalism” at the time.

The falling out wasn’t purely political, according to author Hugh Pearson.

“Sometimes Newton and the other members of (Warden’s) security detail got into fights with young whites who didn’t like what Warden had to say about whites. Rather than ‘throw down’ along with the security detail, Warden refused to fight,” Pearson wrote in “Shadow of the Panther: Huey Newton and the Price of Black Power in America.”

U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee of California entered an official statement of appreciation of Warden and his Black Panther colleagues in the African-American Association in the Congressional Record on April 23, 2007.

“Among the founding members (of the Association) were community leaders such as Khalid Al-Mansour (known then as Don Warden); future Judges Henry Ramsey and Thelton Henderson; future Congressman and Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums, and future Black Panthers Huey Newton and Bobby Seale,” the Democratic representative’s statement said.

Al-Mansour’s more recent videotaped speeches focus on Muslim themes, and abound with anti-Semitic theories and anti-Israel vitriol.

The Saudi Connection

But al-Mansour’s sponsorship of Obama as a prospective Harvard law student is important for another reason beyond his Islamic and anti-American rhetoric and early Black Panther ties.

At the time Percy Sutton, a former lawyer for Malcolm X and a former business partner of al-Mansour, says he was raising money for Obama’s graduate school education, al-Mansour was representing top members of the Saudi Royal family seeking to do business and exert influence in the United States...
