Crime in America has been climbing steadely over the past century. in the 1940s, there was one murder a week in New York City. That's 52 murders a year. In 1980s, there were 5000 murders a year in New York City. Why is our crime going up? Did we go wrong in raising the next generation? Could it be the images on TV? Secular Humanism? Our schools? The culprit is Liberals.
For the past fifty years left wing policies have hampered law enforcement efforts to go after and prosecute criminals to the fullest extent, prevented law abiding citizens from defending themselves, while showing mercy and compassion to violent criminals and showing none whatsoever towards their victims. Their bleeding hearts have no compassion for those who are victims of crimes and how they will be affected for the rest of their lives. Why on earth would these sick demented liberals show love for those who take life and ruin our neighborhoods? Aside from being evil and demented, there is an agenda behind the pro crime lobbies in Washington. (Brady campaign, ACLU, Free Mumia, People for the American way, NAMBLA, ETC. )By the way this is how we should refer to all groups that give aid to Death row opponents, gun control activists, people against minimum sentencing for violent crime, people against the right to self defense, people who want criminals acquitted because they are part of a minority group or because their mental or had a miserable child hood or because they're poor ETC. They're pro criminal, they want mercy for criminals and they want their jobs to be easy and their victims defenseless.
The agenda behind the Pro crime lobby is a totalitarian socialist state. You see crime not only results in loss of life and loss of property and wealth, it contributes to a loss of liberty. We are no longer able to do the things we want and go where we want. In my home state of Maine for example, we have seen a rise in crime because we have been encouraging welfare freeloaders and other have nots to come to our state and loaf off. When robbing Maine taxpayers through government is not able to foot the bill for their checks, they rob them with guns and knives. in East Brewer Maine for example we had a lot of welfare recipients from Boston and New York come in and they have been using their food stamp cards to break into people's houses and apartments stealing what they have worked hard for while doing no work themselves. To us this is robbery and burglary. To a Democrat it is redistribution of wealth. Socialists don't believe in private property so why do you think its no coincidence that property crime is highest when liberals are in power?
To make matters worse when property rights are not respected, poverty is the result. This is why socialist governments tend to fail. People are not spending their money on things since it is being robbed not only by the government but by criminals so the economy also suffers. To make matters even worse, some residents of Maine are too poor to own bank accounts where they can safely store their money and at times robbers will rob them at check cashing places like the one near the library. This can also take away the incentive to work.
What is probably the biggest boon to the left is the fear and control they can gain over the masses. Many cities have youth curfews dictating how long those under 18 can stay out late. Many others have even considered curfew for adults as well to control crime. This instead contributes a loss of liberty. Also we are told where we can or cannot go like little children. In high crime areas especially where the pro crime lobbies have disarmed the masses, people look more to the state for dependence giving the government power. Police officers in such areas tend to exhibit corruption as well. In the city of Los Angeles for example, it is illegal for a law abiding citizen to carry around a gun to protect himself. There are also ordinances in place against carrying martial arts weapons and knives longer than three inches. For the Law abiding citizen, he must comply under penalty of losing his liberty and property. For the criminal who lives off of the property of the law abiding citizen, it is an advantage. He doesn't care about being caught, he will go to prison, get free food, free recreation, a sissy and new contacts to help him when he gets out. He can carry long knives, guns, and weapons, he does not fear the law.
The weak and disadvantaged are the best victims. Rich people live in gated communities with armed guards, they can afford security systems for their homes and live in nice areas far away from the urban jungle. The working poor and those just above the poverty level don't have that advantage. They must depend on the police force. The Los Angeles police department has a long history of being one of the most corrupt law enforcement agencies on the planet. Run a red light at the last second it goes to red from yellow, cross the street the second it goes from flashing to don't walk and so much as toss a cigarette butt on the sidewalk and you could find yourself in the hospital. The police love to target the poor since they have very little legal resources to defend themselves with. They rarely ever protect them as well. The LAPD have learned little since Rodney King. Many times the LAPD take bribes and even recruit gang members. They use their position to rat out other gangs and tip off information to their friends about patrols and busts as they did during the Rampart scandal. It Ain't just the LAPD. Other cities have corrupt law enforcement as well. In Philadelphia, there is a housing project that the police will never go to. If there is a 911 call there the police will not respond. Neither does fire or ambulance. Rumor has it there are dead bodies in that building.
One reason the police will not go other than that they are lazy is that it is composed of minorities and if they try to attack them they will be branded racist and sued by the ACLU the NAACP and other groups as well as police misconduct. Just recently a Cape cod police officer found that out the hard way. An illegal immigrant who was pulled over rammed the police cruiser and was shot. Despite having a long criminal record he was never deported. When he was shot it didn't take long of border activists and other left wing loonies to come out of the wood work and brand the officer a racist for defending himself. The same can be applied to civilians. It is illegal to fight back. We are taught this from the day we start school. If a bully steals your money, get a teacher. Well that doesn't work, if a burglar breaks into your home, call the police. Of course by the time they arrive it's too late. But don't you dare fight back. Chances are you could be charged with a crime or even sued by the criminal and lose!
The increase of crime and corruption is constantly blamed by liberals against "Uncaring society," usually republicans. We are told we let them down, we did this to them we were racist this or that even though by the way poor people and minorities make up the biggest victims of crime. Yes. That's right. Senator Diane Feinstein gets to relax in her mansion with expensive bodyguards while somewhere a poor black man and his family are about to be murdered by a couple of 300 pound skin heads who want to cut them up and take everything they have. They cant own guns to protect themselves, cant afford a bodyguard, guess they'd better call 911. The majority of the corrupt politicians in this and other countries are socialists who hold totalitarian power or who cheat the people through rigged elections, nations like Venezuela, Cambodia or Serbia. These nations are supported mostly by the liberals. Those who oppose islamofascism did support the later country but only because it was a lesser of two evils.
In Judaism there is a saying I believe in the Talmud. It reads that those who are kind to the cruel will be cruel to the kind and that those who are merciful to the merciless will be merciless to the merciful. This rings true in leftist countries and in America. We will not execute mass murderers through lethal injections but we will execute unborn babies by ripping them out of their mother's womb. We will not enforce criminal laws and punish the perps, but we will punish victims especially if they fight back. We ridicule and demonize the virtuous and glorify and worship the immoral. Global warming activists who support mass starvation of children and keeping millions in poverty for the environment, as well as Darwinists advocating the murder and oppression of the weak are hailed as visionaries and thinkers. Those who oppose them are dangerous extremists and narrow minded fanatics. The next time there's a shooting in our schools or malls, don't thank a violent video game or movie, thank a liberal.

This is exactly why I sometimes say they are indirectly using gang bangers-legal and illegal-as shock troops.

The article has good and useful information and much of it is true. However, evaluating crime without including victimless crimes effect on society indicates the author hasn't a complete grasp of what causes crime.

sorry, I was mainly focused on violent and property crime. Most crimes BTW are NOT Victimless.
Many people have an innate desire to come to the defense of those whom nobody else is defending. This in and of itself wouldn't be a bad thing; if many people were attacked, having one person defended by way more people than necessary, while others were undefended, wouldn't be very wise.
The problem is that in a liberal's mind, the notion that they should defend those who are defended least gets warped into a notion that they should defend those who are least worthy of being defended. The rationale is that those who are clearly worthy of being defended will be defended by others, so the liberals need to defend those who are not worthy. It never occurs to them that they should make sure that those who are worthy of defense actually are being defended adequately.
This gets further warped and exploited by groups like the ACLU which claim that to protect the civil liberties of everyone, one must protect even the civil liberties of the most despicable people. While it is true that if the government is improperly attacking exactly one person, no matter how despicable, the person should be defended, that does not imply that when the government is attacking multiple people one should focus one's efforts on defending the most despicable. The liberal idiots who support the ACLU never consider that by focusing their defensive efforts on the most despicable people, they are in fact encouraging the government to attack everyone else.
Our schools? The culprit is Liberals.

Laws that make consensual victimless activities criminal cause most violent crimes. Left alone the only victim of gambling, prostitution, and drugs is the person himself. All of society becomes the victim when gambling, prostitution, and drugs are illegal.
What it comes down to is this: the grocer, the butcher, the baker, the merchant, the landlord, the druggist, the liquor dealer, the policeman, the doctor, the city father, and the politician—these are the people who make money out of prostitution. All because it is illegal. Few men have virtue to withstand the highest bidder. If prostitution were legal, the city and state could derive the money in taxes and licensing fees paid to crooked cops and political figures.
Stop wasting jail space on prostitutes, drug users and other victimless criminals. Even if we find it morally acceptable to imprison these people for choices they make regarding their bodies, we must realize that we simply cannot afford to continue clogging the court system and the prison system with these harmless criminals.

Why do you not hate the people who seek to punish those who would smoke pot on their own time? If it weren't for those people, the pot smokers wouldn't bother you at all. Whereas even in the absence of pot smokers, the do-gooders would find some other excuse for their policies.
If it were legal there could be government monitored health requirements, periodic check-ups, and taxation. As example, in many states there is a recreational tax for attending a movie, a hairdresser must pass a test to obtain a license, even a dog groomer might require a license.
Prostitution is a black market business because it is illegal. All of society is the victim when they pay the Mayor, Police Chief, and city fathers to turn a blind eye.

um - you need to read up on hpv - there are many, many strains and it is a virus - meaning - we can’t cure it - in some groups, the infection rate is as high as 90% - do you honestly think a ho would not have at least one strain?
As for certain small crimes like prostitution and gambling, prostitution is generally not victimless. Especially if the johns are married which means they pass any diseases they get to their spouses. Gambling when not regulated usually is not victimless either. The problem is people go to casinos like the one they're building in Bangor, empty out their bank accounts and sell off everything they have and lose it and then they and their children are homeless and we have to take care of them with our tax dollars.
To put CS Lewis into context, the more ridiculous and unnecessary laws we have, IE: No chewing gum or playing hopscotch on Sundays, the more crime that results.

About that I also disagree, with THC being fat soluble and remaining in the body far longer than water soluble substances such as alcohol. Without the pervasive presence of marijuana in our society, urinalysis would be practically useless except for vehicular crimes.
Who cares whether it's harmless to the user. If some people smoke pot and are harmed by it, that's their problem--not mine.

Those who profit from consensual crimes are the advocates. If a state were considering making alcohol illegal, it would be the bootleggers who would go the churches and preach of the evils of alcohol.
Having spent some time in academia, one has to understand the mindset that accompanies this line of thinking. It tends to take a random, determinist nether world where no-one is really responsible for anything, humans being just a bundle of nerves and gray matter, with no objective “right” or “wrong”; if this is ones world view a lot of this kind of thing falls right into place.
