Obama's Me-Too Bracelet? The Family Wants Him to Take It Off, Stop Talking About It

Obama needs to apologize for this right now. He ineptly tried to use the memory of a fallen soldier to score points against McCain at Friday's debate, but it turns out the mother of Sgt. Ryan David Jopek had already asked him to stop doing that.

Brian Jopek: Because of some of the negative feedback she's gotten on the Internet, you know Internet blogs, you know people accusing her of... or accusing Obama of trying to get votes doing it... and that sort of thing. Radio Host Moberg: Yeah

Jopek: She has turned down any subsequent interviews with the media because she just didn't want it to get turned into something that it wasn't. She had told me in an email that she had asked, actually asked Mr. Obama to not wear the bracelet any more at any of his public appearances. Which I don't think he's...

Moberg: It has been a while since he's brought it up.

Jopek: Right. But, the other night I was watching the news and he was on, uh, speaking somewhere and he was still wearing it on his right wrist. I could see it on his right wrist. So, that's his own choice. I mean that's something Barack Obama, that's a choice that he continues to wear it despite Tracy asking him not to... Because she is a Barack Obama supporter and she didn't want to do anything to sabotage his campaign, so, if he's still wearing the bracelet then, uh, that of course is entirely up to him.

What a slimeball.

More Important than a Bracelet [Jonah Goldberg]

From a reader:

While some are looking for confirmation whether Mrs. Jopek had asked Senator Obama to stop wearing (or using it) her son’s wristband, what all are ignoring is Sergeant Jopek supported the mission in Iraq and died supporting a cause he believed in. That is Obama’s greatest shame, that he has always failed to say that SGT Jopek gave all in a cause he believed in.

Yet that is just like what the liberal media failed to say when they propped up Cindy Sheehan. Not once to date in over 150 entries has the NY Times mentioned that Casey Sheehan 1) reenlisted knowing he would be deployed to Iraq, 2) volunteered for the rescue mission he died during, and 3) when told he did not have to volunteer, replied, “Where my Chief goes, I go.” (’Chief’ is the formal title for the head of a maintenance section in the U.S. Army. Casey Sheehan was a mechanic).

Well bless her heart, thats all I can say. I had wondered on a previous thread why she would give the bracelet to Nobama anyway. Since she is a supporter, so the article said, then I can only kindly say she is misinformed and has no idea she gave it to a man? that hates everything her soldier son stood for.

I call them "mainstream" because that is their traditional moniker.
To me, the term "MSM" is an insult.

Family Told Obama NOT To Wear Soldier Son's Bracelet...

Remember the debate Friday night, when Senator Obama said, "I have a bracelet too" Good Old WHAT'S HIS NAME? He finally came up with the name of an American Hero Sergeant Ryan David Jopek . Well come to find out Sgt Jopek's mother has asked the Senator to STOP WEARING THE BRACELET because she didn't want it to become a campaign Issue. Obama ignored her request.

And, why is the media not playing this story? The radio show on which this interview is heard happened all the way back in March. How is it the media missed this? Is it because they are also don't want to hurt Obama's campaign?

I can only say that if the parents of the soldier whose bracelet John McCain is wearing had said in public that they want him to stop wearing their son's bracelet the news would have been coast to coast.

We need to make a red, white and blue (live strong) bracelet that says ME TOO on it.
