I just got off the phone with the person that represents Dawn Robyn Petrlik, the artist who depicted a scene where onlookers could take up a rifle and aim it at Sarah Palin. She read to me a statement from the artist which I have attempted to summarize. I have requested that the artist send me a full statement which I have promised to publish in full.
I also spoke to the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition who completely defended the artist and was a bit snippy with me. I used a calm and casual tone with the woman I spoke to and she was rather rude. She told me that they do not receive federal funding but instead receive taxpayer money from New York City. Perhaps someone should call Hillary.
Please visit my blog Pagan Power for the details.
I will keep you updated if I receive any further details.
Pagans...
People who work with the left to destroy our traditional American Culture.
Where are the cries for Obama to denounce this from the media that went on and on about the remarks of one or two McCain/Palin one or two supporters at rallies ???
Make a “B. Hussein” rifle target and see how fast you are villified.
This is the obvious result of Obama and Biden whipping their supporters up into a hate-filled frenzy...
And New York City DOES receive Federal (U.S. taxpayer) funding. So what's the difference?
If they have a 501c3 tax status (and they do claim to be "not for profit") they cannot engage in political advocacy FOR or AGAINST a candidate.
Maybe they need an IRS audit.
OH, the "irony". < /sarcasm >
Meanwhile it would be "offensive" to portray Obama hammering scissors into the back of a "not quite alive" baby's head.
Perhaps you should view the photo before accusing me of distorting reality. I do not and cannot please everyone. I reported the truth. If you have an issue with that it really isn’t my problem.
I wouldn’t say this is blog pimping any more than Little Green Footballs is pimped here.
It is also covered here:

Now you are accusing me of working with the left? I am used to being attacked by liberals. That’s why I enjoy being here. But I suppose arrogance and ignorance know no political boundaries.
Explain how “Pagan Power” fits in with a conservative ideology.
Niiiiiice...
I’d wager that at least 90% of those “sponsors” receives some form of Federal (U.S. taxpayer) funding.
gnip...
I just called Secret Service field office in NYC his response was that it is something that they would definitely look into. I gave then the web address, artist name, location where its being exhibited.
I just got a call back from the Secret Service asking for more info and they said they would look into it today. They were asking a lot of questions this time.
My personal religious beliefs and practices are just that, personal, as is my right under the First Amendment.
As an American citizen and taxpayer I fully support a balanced budget. I support paying down the debt and cutting wasteful spending. I am anti-abortion. I believe that people should be given a hand up, not a hand out. I believe in equal opportunity, not quotas and set asides. I believe the responsibility of the government is to help us achieve what was stated in the Declaration of Independence and ratified by our Constitution.
The perspective on the rifle does make it look like more than a cardboard cutout.
If the intention of the piece was to have people pose with Palin (which might be sorta fun, holding the rifle pointed upward) then a cardboard cutout which would only look 'right' when held parallel to the plane of the background (as opposed to being pointed at it) might have been reasonable, particularly if there were a photo showing the suggested pose for people. But the rifle the person is holding doesn't look like such a cutout.
