Now that America has a new President Elect, I was wondering when we might start hearing about the disgraceful treatment of Bush. I voted for G.W., twice, even though I didn't agree with him when we went to war with Iraq. I figured that he and Congress must have known something that I didn't and that there was possibly a good reason that I wasn't aware of.
When the war started having its problems and no WMDs were found it didn't take long before the same people that voted for the war started throwing G.W. under the bus. The mainstream news media followed suit and it wasn't long before G.W. had the majority of America "hating" him. This treatment of a President in a time of war would have been considered treason 60 years ago. I find it troubling that some politicians, including Obama, Pelosi, Dodd, and Reid are wearing the badge of treason like it was a badge of honor.
I firmly believe that the Bush hating liberals and media bear a lot of the responsibility for why the Iraqi war has been so difficult to prosecute, and why our enemies have had reason to believe that they might be able to defeat us.
I think that all of this says much more about the corrupt politicians and media than it does G.W. Even John McCain, who I admire immensely, threw G.W. under the proberbial bus thinking that it would mean more votes. Personally, I think that this strategy played out against McCain.
Much to G.W.'s credit he has remained Presidential through it all. A lesser man couldn't have withstood the constant barage of hateful rhetoric against him from the politicians and the media. As for the current economic crisis, G.W. has once again demonstrated that he believes in "the buck stops here" principle. Even though, our economic problems happened on the watch of a strongly Democratic Congress, which of course the media continues to fail to report this little bit of factual information.
G.W. has not been a perfect President but he does deserve our gratitude for his steadfastness under very trying circumstances and exacerbated by a corrupt press and even more corrupt politicians.
On behalf of many Americans, we thank you Mr. President for your selfless service to your country. God bless you and your family.

I voted twice for Mr. Bush and I would do it AGAIN. Thank you Mr. President for all you did to keep us safe.
The lowlife Clintons, and their trash, trashed the WH and AF1 and nothing was ever done or said about it.
We just keep letting Democrats get by with their crimes and they just keep getting more brazen. We will have nothing left because of our timidity.
Now they're trying to steal elections and the worst of is that our very own side doesn't care. Our side (even Freepers) says that it's ok to steal elections of we don't like the Republican.

The lies began during the election recount. Claims of people not being allowed to vote (disenfranchisement), Dem election officials doing everything they could to turn the election Gore's way (hanging chads, disqualifying military votes), a Dem Florida Supreme court helping them.
When finally it was settled, the propaganda machine began - "The U.S. Supreme Court selected the President."
And except for about 1 week after 9/11, it has been non-stop. Not one thing the man did or did not do escaped the wrath of the left, Democrats, MSM, university elite professors, Hollywood. It almost became a joke - every misfortune that befell Americans was Bush's fault.

The attack on George W. Bush is far from over. There is a SERIOUS plan under consideration, to prosecute Bush for “war crimes” for his activities in Afghanistan and Iraq, and treat him the way Saddam Hussein was, captured, held, tried and executed.
This is but a short extension of the “Bush Derangement Syndrome”, and entirely within the realm of possibility, considering the passions that drive this nascent Obama Administration. Papa Doc was an expert in voodoo who ruled Haiti with brute force and terror, with a ruthless security force, the Tontons Macoutes, acting as real-life bogeymen who routinely executed his opponents.

It was George W. Bush, November 3, 2004, after being elected to his second term. How short are the memories of the virulent Bush-haters on the left, who never gave him a chance. He reached across the aisle so many times, and they bit his hand. He compromised a great deal - to the detriment of his popularity - and they did not soften one iota toward him. He got called Hitler and Nazi for his troubles.
He has been wrong on much - mostly spending and big government - but he has been right on terrorism and has kept us from being attacked, not just here but pretty much worldwide, for 7 years. No gratitude from the self-righteous “progressives” and from many of our own party. I hope that history makes the right call - but with leftists writing most of the books used in schools, don’t count on it.
They aren’t done yet.

You are so right on! I was arguing this point last week with a liberal coworker and I got pretty heated in my defense of Bush. This coworker is a black minister nonetheless and claims that Bush shows all the signs of a drug addict who has lost too many brain cells to be able to make basic decisions. My outward disgust may actually cost me my job unfortunately because our President is an Obamaniac as are about 90% of the staff of our social services agency.
Great article, David! I agree with your Dad. Pres. Bush will be remembered in the history books as a great president. His defense of our nation and the successes in the Middle East are his legacy.

Well, not as bad as Carter, but there's a lot of truth in that.
A lot of what's said about Bush focuses on his dignity, which is a fine thing. But he doesn't seem to be much of a force in the country lately when leadership is needed, and that's not a good thing.
His reputation will rise after he leaves office, but there are real limits on how high it will go.

It IS treason, where anyone considers that or not. I would love to see the ringleaders hung for it.
