Conservative radio buffoon Rush Limbaugh thinks of himself as an ace strategist and so he thought he was being extremely clever back in March when he launched "Operation Chaos" an effort to undermine frontrunner Barack Obama's chances in the fall election by prolonging the Democratic primary season and forcing Obama to deplete his resources early. Rushbo, accordingly, urged his conservative Republican listeners to take advantage of open primaries in many thats that allow non-Democrats to participate and vote for Hilary Clinton in order to drag the race out as long as possible. Brilliant eh? And how mischievous!
Unfortunately the Limbaugh his plan was too clever by half and has backfired.
DNC chair Howard Dean has talked about the importance of a "50 state strategy" for the past four years and Obama embraced the idea but it was the prolonged primary season that allowed Obama to implement it by virtue of necessity as the never ending race forced him to recruit ground organizers and campaign in red states that are usually flyover states for the Dems such as Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Indiana. When the fall campaign came around, polls showed Obama competitive in states that the Democrats had long written off as a result of his spring campaigning and allowed him to use ground organizations left over from the primary season in order to keeps those states competitive forcing McCain to campaign in states which should have been sure things for him. Moreover, Obama won North Carolina and Indiana and thereby assured himself the presidency thanks, in no small part, to Rush Limbaugh's efforts.

I absolutely HAVE TO somehow get away from hearing the droning, boring voice of Obama on t.v. 24/7 - and I doubt that it will stop even briefly anytime soon. I would just turn it off, but I have to live in this house with my husband.
All Rush did was prevent Obama from having 1 BILLION dollars to spend on his campaign. Those amazed at the 50 state strategy ought to remember that no campaign in history has had more than about 1/4 the money to spend that Obama raised illegally.

If ANYTHING was clear on Tuesday it was that the PUMAs either overestimated their numbers or lied about their intentions.
How many dozens of people do you think went along with this?
Typically, those who just signed up for FR, and post these “(BARF Alert) type of postings are using a well known Kos and DU ruse and technique that they discuss over on the Commie sites in “How To Infiltrate Free Republic and sow division and stir up the pot” seminar threads.
Often they will come over with others newly signed up who will then agree with them and attempt to bolster their position.
They put up these kinds of posts as a way to infiltrate their message onto the site,” to confront the RW Talking Points”, “Demoralize the Freepers” and then use the “BARF Alert” ruse as a way to provide them cover.
Its done to spread their opposition message and to get everyone running into the thread to argue about it.
Another thing, they rarely stay around and make comments. They have no serious commenting history to rate as anything near a “trusted” user. This is “Drive by media journalism”.

Rush always stated that he had no idea what the final outcome of chaos would be...just that it forced liberals to show their true colors.
I saw a piece on Nightline which supported the same theory (particularly in Indiana). I don’t know - I thought chaos didn’t have any effect according to the msm?...
I think Obama was able to get organized in so many states for one reason: MONEY. I don’t think Limbaugh’s chaos really helped him....
but where is the MEDIA OUTRAGE over the MONEY? Where is the siren call to never let this happen again? The media made a big deal about BUSH’S WARCHEST during his primary run...but not a wimper about:
1. Obama broke a promise to take public financing
2. Obama spent unprecedented amounts of money (I saw a report he had 40,000 paid staffers in Ohio)
3. Much of that money was untraceable
4. Some people improperly had credit cards charged for donations they didn’t make
5. Many of his paid staffers likely didn’t pay income taxes (a story about people doing last minute canvassing had people talking about checks in round numbers - 90 dollars for example - indicating no taxes withheld. They probably are independent contractors, responsible for filing their own Schedule SC...but this is virtually untraceable by the IRS)

Rush didn’t do this. The media and the laziness of the American electorate did this.
