“It is worth every penny you’ll spend on it.”
Oh my, it’s such a rare privilege to have my money spent on the Emperor’s delicate palate. “You’ll spend” is the operative phrase here. If I want a good, decently priced steak, I’ll take Laura’s Lean Organic Steaks on sale, beat them tender, cook them slowly in Bragg’s EVOO in cast iron, and they’re good prime beef and affordable. (I have to go cheaper to be able to feed our new Emperor and his Empress and their two little Princesses as they have been accustomed and so they don’t have to bother to chew; by all means.) How charming!
This could be a Marie Antoinette, let them eat cake, moment.
Thanks for the update! It's a pretty-looking chunk o' beef. :-)
It may be higher in some parts of the country, but that’s what we can get it for here and what you can order it from Yama Beef for- and they are the premier supplier in the US.
PETA approved, too! ;-)
Some amusing coments on the Jake Tapper article. Here’s one from a lib, who is defending Obama from the charge of playing Marie Antoinette:
It was a COCKTAIL PARTY. Who would eat a pound of meat? They were appetizer portions. Get a life.
Also, who said $100/lb? Cooking.com sells that type steak for $65 for a 14oz portion. And, I’m guessing it’s cheaper at the local grocer or butcher.
Next time he invites the Republicans, maybe he can serve little weiners in ketchup on a toothpick.
Pretty funny. This liberal says that it’s not really $100 a pound, but only, let’s get my calculator out here, $74 a pound. So stuff it, you peons! Get back to your little weiners on sticks and leave us elite snobs to appreciate the good things in life!

Does the President Pay for His Groceries?
Is it true the Obamas have to pay for their own groceries during their time in the White House? It's true! "Extra" checked out this rumor and discovered food, beverages and dry cleaning all come out of the President's pocket. Just don't expect catch the President or First Lady in the produce aisle -- the First Family has a staff member to do all the shopping.
I remember the dems tried to bring this up when President Bush was in office too..
He's a con-sarned idjit galoot, that man is.
It's worse than Bush I and the grocery store scanner.
"Uhhhh, I thought that ALL beef was this price, uhhhhh."
What, fanning the flames of populist class envy?
I don't care what the President eats - whoever holds the office should entertain at a high level and serve top quality food. The cost for such things is infinitesimal compared to the trillions under discussion for "bailouts". Just because we don't like the current office holder doesn't change that principle. This article is silly.
Even if he paid for it with his personal check - what an IDIOT!
It just fuels innumerable charges of elitism.
I'm speechless.
It maybe a crass exploitation of the current economic situation but I am sure the people that raised the beef as well as the chicken and those that provided the booze appreciated the business (If Obama paid out of pocket, public funds used to buy the food then break out the pitchforks).

You fry your steak?
Heretic.
Fortunately, I've been in the political arena long enough to smell rare Wagyu steak blood when it's in the water.
Stand back and we'll show you how we do it downtown, n00bs.
Some type of subsidy earmarked for everyday White House functions/maintenance could of been siphoned off (In theory of course).
I'm glad you weren't around here for the M. Larry Lawrence dustup, back in the day. ;-)
I agree, I just don’t want to fall in the trap of damning every little thing, especially when we defended President Bush when he had Kobe beef at various events and the libtards threw a fit that sounded almost exactly the same. It is time to be critical and look into it, not knee jerk either way.
“Kobe/Wagyu is without question THE best beef in the world.”
I think not. We have a local butcher, Tony’s, here in Denver that sells prime plus beef that is so good it is hard to screw it up on the grill, in the pan, or the oven. I have had Kobe beef many times and it is too soft of a meat and nearly flavorless for my taste. The Colorado raised beef here is fantastic.
