You are most welcome - thank you and your family for their service and sacrifices. My family also has a rich military tradition (7 members having served in Iraq for a total of 12 years of time spent in the “sandbox”, of whom my son is just one) which goes back to the late 1600’s and in all major wars since 1776. Your niece will remain in my prayers until she is found. God Bless.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that this family has word that their beloved daughter is safe, and may it be that she will continue to be so unto the day when she returns to her loved ones. Give her and her boyfriend clarity of mind and an unease about the pain they are causing ... guide law enforcement to their whereabouts and may they effectively arrange their return. Comfort the families as they await ... may they draw near to You and may their faith be strengthened throughout this ordeal. In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray, Amen ...

I have a daughter who went a little wayward and, Praise the Lord, has returned to (or maintained) her faith and standards.

Although not as severe as your situation, I’ve lived through similar concerns.

Your daughter and family are in my prayers.

Glad to hear your good news. I leave for work in a minute and just got this request, so will take the liberty of posting it on your thread due to time constraints ...

PRAYER REQUEST FOR LINDSEY, IN 3ND TRIMESTER OF PREGNANCY, WITH DIVERTICULITIS (sent by her girlfriend):

Hey guys ~ Just sending a prayer request for one of my dearest friends, Lindsey. She is 14 weeks pregnant and is battling Diverticulitis. She has an abcess on her small intestine that the dr’s think has ruptured (spilling infection into her abdomen) and is extremely sick with fever and pain. This has been going on for months, with her enduring daily fevers and excruciating pain. She has quite an infection in her body.

Needless to say, this is EXTREMELY dangerous for her baby (and for her too). The doctors have given her time for this to clear up with oral antibiotics and it is worsening, and seems that it may require a serious surgery. They may even have to remove some of her colon or intestine if it’s damaged or diseased.

It’s not safe for the baby for them to do cat scans or mri’s, but it’s become necessary. And it’s definitely not safe for the baby for them to do this kind of surgery on her either, but apparently that is the next step (Monday, if not sooner).

I plead with you to pray for her and for her baby. Pray that the Lord will heal her. Pray that if this surgery happens, the baby will be supernaturally spared. This is a family who loves Jesus wholeheartedly. Pray for their faith, and for peace in the midst of this storm. Thanks,

ps. The following is her update this morning she emailed. I have summarized it above but it’s in her own words below if you’re interested:

Hello everyone,

Unfortunately, I don’t have good news. I was examined by 3 doctors and there was a surgeon on the phone as well helping to decide what to do. They all wanted to admit me in to the hospital this morning to begin i.v. antibiotics to treat the infection more aggressively, and they went ahead and scheduled my surgery for Monday morning to remove the absess that has formed on my small intestine.

I’ve lost my appetite and about 7 pounds this week, which makes the doctors uncomfortable since I’m in my 2nd trimester.

They are also wanting to schedule a cat scan for several reasons ... one being to determine if the absess has ruptured which they are beginning to think that it has. Although I feel like the pain has improved, my abdomen still hurts each time I move or eat. My blood work shows a pretty significant infection brewing in my body, and my urine sample came back showing I had developed a bladder infection on top of that.

I tearfully requested that they allow me to go home and try the oral antibiotics for a few more days. Unfortunately, the antibiotics won’t treat the absess ... that will have to be surgically removed. The doctors didn’t see the point in me going home since I will most likely have to have the surgery Monday a.m. anyways, but b/c I was so persistent in wanting to try, they said I could.

SO, this weekend ... if I feel any pain after I eat, I have to go to the hospital. If I develop a fever of over 100, I have to go the hospital. If my pain increases at all, I have to go the hospital. And if at any point, for any reason, I feel as if I need to be admitted, the doctors have all said they 100% support that decision and to not even call them, but instead to just go.

At this point, I’d just like you to pray that the doctor’s will know what is best for me AND the baby - I feel like they are being as cautious as they can be ... and although none of them are happy with the surgery / catscan / antibiotics ... they also were all in agreement that there is no other option at this point.

Please pray our baby will remain safe in the womb and protected from any infections or affects of the surgery and meds.

- Lindsey

UPDATE ON LINDSEY:

Hey guys,

Lindsey is being admitted to the hospital for the next 7-10 days. The plan is to start her on IV antibiotics for a 7-10 day treatment. If no improvement by Monday, they will proceed with the surgery to possibly remove parts (or even all!) of her colon.

Pray the antibiotics work, and work quickly. Pray for her baby to hang in there during all this.

Thanks!
