A cousin of mine badly needs prayer for her baby. I'm not a medical person so I don't quite understand it, but she's on the verge of losing the baby. Here is the prayer request email I received with personal info blanked out:
"Sat. around 1:00 a.m. began loosing amniotic fluid and was having contractions. She was admitted to The Hospital in . Upon arrival she had only 3 centimeters of fluid left but it began to increase (7.2 centimeters) that afternoon and there was hope that the amniotic fluid bag would repair itself. On Monday a.m. a Level II ultrasound (more thorough ultrasound that can look at baby's organs) indicated that this was not happening. The lungs aren't yet developed enough for survival but there's a very strong heartbeat.
She remained at until late afternoon Monday and upon returning home, is on complete bedrest until 24 wks.
After 24 wks, she'll be re-admitted to the hospital and given steriods (the baby's stomach isn't developed enough to handle steroids right now) in hopes of carrying the baby as many wks as possible. Presently, she is at 21 wks (she and say 22) but 24 is the absolute minimum that allows/qualifies a baby to receive nourishment after birth. Before 24 wks a baby is given fluids and just made comfortable.....Even birth at 24 wks is 50/50 chance of survival, 28 wks, 90%.
Please pray for God's perfect will, but beg Him for a perfect baby....this baby."
I should add that my cousin is 40, and this may be her only chance at a child. So please spare 30 seconds and pray, pray, pray.
