The poor Brits were in for a big letdown today. Dear Leader bored them to tears at his press conference with Prime Minister Brown in London. The Daily Mail reported:
Allegedly the most charismatic politician in the world, Mr Obama was a disappointment. It sounded as though he had a blocked nose and so his lack of energy may have been a symptom of a cold. Jet lag, too. He probably wished he could have stayed in bed.
He spoke slowly, in a meandering manner. Some might say that he was thoughtful and professorial. Others might call his manner circuitous, even yarny. Am I saying that he was a bore? Oh dear. I find that I possibly am.
Maybe it was because Obama was without his TelePrompter?

The Friends commented this morning that during the press conference with Brown he left his Blackberry on...you could hear that interference buzzing noise as he spoke.

Sheesh, the guy is Jimmy Carter.
That homespun bowling crap on Jay Leno, followed by the turgid, teachy fiscal policy lecture, together with the hurt defensiveness (and bad script for it) that everybody in Washington “is Simon Cowell… Everybody’s got an opinion,” is pure I’m-in-over-my-head stuff. Even the idea of having to go on Jay Leno to rescue yourself from the AIG mess is lame. Be a man, man.
The guy just doesn’t know what to say. He can’t connect. Emotions are here, he’s over there. He can’t get the words to match the situation.

I can only conclude that my partial hearing loss has wiped out my own ability to detect the frequency of Dear Leader's oratorial greatness. Sure, I can hear him, I simply can't detect the Grosser Sprecher Aller Zeiten ("GROSPAZ") side of Obama that all the pundits - and possibly the entire McCain family - insist is there. Maybe it is like (not) hearing a dog whistle.
