Sen. Arlen Specter shouldnt be ALLOWED to Switch Parties. The People voted for a Republican.

Among all the things seen so far today we have a defector Sen. Arlen Specter who has switched from Republican to Democrat. That’s not what the people that elected him voted for. They voted for a Republican and he should have to remain so until he runs again for that seat. Then he can run as a Democrat and see if that’s what the people want.

Switching parties while still serving your term isn’t right and there should be guidelines to be able to do this. In my opinion

No no - please. Let the Democrats take him. He’s the worst form of political whore. He’ll fit right in with the Democrats.

Now I get to have fun watching the Democrats fail with NO ONE to blame but themselves. This’ll be great.

No party switcher should be allowed to keep his seat without letting the people decide in a special election whether they want to retain the prospective switcher.
Phil Gramm did this when he went from Democrat to Republican in Texas, but don’t expect ethically-challenged Arlen Specter to follow suit.

Arlen, is the worst example of our system, he's in it for himself only...................doesn't give a damn about those who elected him.

Demand your money back from him, because that is his power.

Never forget, that even with swine like Spector, we still have the best system in the world and it is a Republic.

We need to stop whining about this. Stop him? We should ENCOURAGE him. And John McCain. And Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe and all the rest of the sunshine Republicans who deserted conservatism years ago. It is always painful to excise the rotting flesh, but it needs to be done lest it poison the body.

Sphincter doesn't have a 'lock' on the Dim nomination either.

Expect the Dim state party to throw him under the bus for a trusted liberal.

Actions have consequences.

Specter, the NYC fly-over, the pandemic, crisis - crisis -crisis, etc????

Smoke and mirrors. Another way for those orchestrating the demise of this country to say: Watch my right hand...watch it. Pay no attention to the left hand...just watch what is going on with the right.

What's been going on in the left hand we are not paying attention to??? Have we forgotten about the great many negative issues we were discussing only a week ago...a month ago...January 20th????

Here's my analogy:
Suppose you worked for Dell Computer. Dell's stock begins to lose market-share to Apple, so you decide to quit Dell and go work for Apple. Your free choice of course, but you still have to interview (campaign) and get hired by Apple (elected), then you have to actually quit your job at Dell and move to Apple. You can't just keep showing up at the office Dell provided you, demanding a paycheck from Dell and pretend you work at Dell when you now work for Apple.

Specter was actually stupid enough to admit that switched because he didn't want his “record tarnished by the right” and because he knew he was going to be challenged in the primary, and would very likely lose. Unfortunately, the public is too stupid to know what that means.

Specter was not elected to serve his interests, nor was he elected to serve the interests of the national Republican party. he was elected to serve the interests of the people of Pennsylvania who put him in office. He has cast them aside for his own sake. He's a whore, and is a perfect case-study of the inherent problem with the Washington DC politics of self-preservation at all costs.

Let the RINOs leave. Hang the 0bama regime’s failure like an albatross around the dimocrats necks for generations to come.

Arlen Specter is an OLD man with a feeble voice. He’s out to protect only his chances of remaining in office.

He is 79 years old and will be 81 when he would run for office and 89 at the end of that term.

I love my 86 year old father, but he is too old to be a Senator.

Arlen Specter should retire. And I think that we here at FR should email him and snail mail him and tell him so.

I’m gonna do that today. http://www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml

I agree with you on that. He was probably the last (d) I voted for in a state election. He was just as good after he switched to the (R) side as he was before.

I’ve never voted for a Republican in my life. I have voted for many candidates who happened to be members of the Republican party though.
